Excellent! Now with that out of the way the GOP can really focus on spending cuts. Let the battle begin!

What a waste these folks are.
If they really wanted to solve this they would’ve required a budget first, before voting on the debt ceiling.
This will go nowhere when budget resolutions are provided, but not passed.
Total crock it is!

delaying a default on the governments obligations that would have taken effect in February.
I'm sorry ABC but No DEFAULT would take place. Default implies that principle and interest on out debt will not be paid.

Ignorant, Michael O'Brien of NBC. Question is, is it an error of omission(ignorance) or comission(lying deception)

The GOP-controlled House voted 285 to 144 to comfortably pass a three-month extension in the governments borrowing authority just as Senate Democratic leaders suggested they would take up and pass the legislation as soon as they could. Please tell me that spending cuts were included with this. Surely the Republicans aren't stupid enough to give Obama what he wants with no strings attached. Are they?

Most here are too young to remember but George #41 was known for the phrase, “Read my lips, no new taxes.” Well, he was always fighting an uphill battle with a Democrat Congress and they had him stalled, back to the wall. He finally agreed to new taxes if, and only if, Congress would cut spending by a particular amount - a lot. They signed the agreement. The new taxes were put in place with the cuts to follow. Only the dishonest Dems lied (again) and had no intention to follow their agreement with #41. Cuts were never made and they hung that phrase around his neck like an anchor thrown into the sea -”Read my lips, no new taxes.” #41 was finished in the world of politics.

Do we the people have representation in the House? Our only hope, the GOP, can’t seem to stop or even slow the monster growing in DC.
It seems like I must say to the GOP, that I’m not fooled by foolery:
Every single thing DC does requires you to be a part of it. I know that all you have to do is vote for what should be passed and vote against what should not be passed.
You could have and can simply defund the _health_care_act_ and you should not be refunding USG with more debt at all.
USG, an ex-republic, has become an unconstitutional democracy and is clearly:
a government gone wild.

Except that I get less of my paycheck, what did the ‘fiscal cliff’ thing do? Hey House, that’s some good leverage you got there.

The vote early Wednesday afternoon by the House would forestall a default on the national debt.
WRONG - THE ONLY REASON FOR A "DEFAULT" IS THE CLOWN IN THE WHITE HUT IF HE CHOOSES NOT TO MAKE THE DEBT PAYMENTS.
The US Government takes in all the cash it needs in one month to pay the debt payment on all of it's outstanding debt, with enough left over to continue paying socialism security, medicare and probably medicaid and the military, for any given month right now today (Jan 2013). SOME OF OBAMA'S PEOPLE RIDING IN THE WAGON MAY NOT GET THEIR WELFARE, UNEMPLOYMENT, AND OTHER ASSOCIATED GOODIES BEING HANDED OUT BY BARAQ O'CLAUS.

Most folks are a bit displeased here, but 4 months is only four months, geez!? Incremental means of forcing the Senate and President in taking responsibility is definitely fine by my account.
It’s highly symbolic for the Senate not to get paid and would win HUGE political points if they didn’t attempt to reconcile with the house. Am I getting something wrong? Inform me, please.
“The bill, which Republican leaders unveiled last week, would suspend the debt limit through May 18 and require both the House and the Senate to produce and pass a budget resolution in the meanwhile, with a deadline of April 15. If either chamber fails to pass a budget, its pay would be put into escrow No Budget, No Pay goes the newly-minted Republican slogan to describe this strategy.”
