Senate hearing: 9:00a.m. EST. House hearing: 2:00 p.m. EST
Watch live here. Also on C-SPAN 3.
In her first testimony since the Benghazi attack, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will participate in a full day of hearings Wednesday about U.S. diplomatic security and the American mission in Libya.
Sec. Clinton will appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the morning followed by an afternoon testimony to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In December, the State Department's highest ranking foreign service officers, William Burns and Thomas Nides, testified before Congressional lawmakers in the Secretary's place. They discussed a new report by an independent panel assessing the Benghazi attack.
Deputy Sec. Nides put several recommendations from a report on the attack into effect before the end of 2012. Implementing the rest, Nides said, will be underway by the time the next Secretary of State takes office. Three State Department officials have resigned since the report was released.
The two officials were substituting for Secretary Clinton, who was recovering from a concussion she suffered after fainting due to dehydration from a stomach virus.
Four Americans were killed in that attack, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens. Congress is investigating whether the State Department denied a request for extra security at that outpost earlier in the year and what actions were taken in the moments after the attack began.
Tom Cotton’s debut..this should be very good...
Mo Brooks is my Rep. Will be very disappointed if he pulls punches this afternoon.
and your ?? Mr McCain?
What was the question from Flake you are referring to?
Don’t be shocked. He and guber have been pulling this stuff for some time now on the DBM and elsewhere. Its when they get in those lonely rooms full of dems that they always fold.
What would be best is is several GOP House members could get together, and yield their time to ONE member..maybe Chaffetz..so that there could be some continuity of questioning..
Hillary now responds to McCain.
Says they did not speak to the survivors before they got back to the US Sept. 15, nor did they have access to the videotapes, for weeks?
That is BS.now blaming funding being held up, when she had discretionary funds up the young yang for the paltry amount that Benghazi required.
Johnson looking at her with daggers. senator Dick Turban up.
‘”Soft footprint” policy partly responsible...’
McCain comes close- but no cigar.
Looks like my Rep. Trey Gowdy won’t be one of the House questioners today. Well, another local boy Jeff Duncan will be there. Curious how well he’ll do.
ROTFL.
McCain didn’t give her time to answer on purpose.
He did one of those journ0list type questions.
She’s blaming Congress. Obama gave her the talking points this morning.
McCain is performing kabuki theater to placate Tea Party conservatives that he loathes as a means to get this whole “unfortunate tragedy” behind us. He and the witch had their moves worked out weeks ago. America is being “played” right before our eyes....again.
Right.
He used his time to list her failings.
Durbin invokes Bush what an asshole
Dickie Durbin dredging up lack of WMDs in Iraq. Get over it Dick.
When you throw too much out at once as McCain did all you do is get it on the record. Practically, the audience can’t comprehend it all and it allows her to ignroe everything since there are 20 questions there. She will pick and chose her comments. thats what she did. she’s a professional liar. Every bit as good as bubba.
