It’s not the guns - back in those “happier times” kids took their guns to school and participated in shooting clubs or went hunting after school - and no one was massacred. Therefore it must be other societal factors such as the increased exposure to violence in society today via games, videos and music. Add to it the decrease/rejection of biblical based values on how to treat one another and respect.

A yearning exists for the days when children rode their bikes to schools, which were open with flowing green fields where they frolicked under minimal supervision.
********
Due to a complete lack of any standards in our society, kids nowdays are under a smothering, constant supervision to protect them from all manner of violence and deviancies. The long term effect of this will be tragic as kids are no longer allowed the individual freedom to experience parts of life on their own and to develop a sense of self-confidence, independence and curiosity that comes from all those little experiences. We’re robbing kids of their childhood and when the reach adulthood, we’ll rob them of what little money they earn to pay off our obscene debt.

"living in a Donna Reed world was great for a few, but that there were many suffering souls"

The DIFFERENCE was that the "suffering souls" pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, with the INCENTIVE of bettering their lives by WORKING.

Today, with the Socialist/Union-protected Teachers, they are taught they are "victims", and THE GOVERNMENT will take care of them by redistributing wealth from "those Rich White Guys".....

4 generations of parasitic living, and Obamamoney, and their is NO INCENTIVE to be self-sufficient, responsible, or self-determinate!

You have a RIGHT to be taken care of, by those you don't even know, and you don't care!

The day Sandy Hook happened, someone demanded to know of me "how can we stop this?" My answer was that America did not become a country where madmen feel free to gun down schoolkids for any one reason, and it did not happen overnight. This era has been coming on, with visible warning signs, hints and precursors for fifty years. It is here at last, and it is not going to go away overnight just because some politician somewhere passes a law. It has nothing to do with guns or video games. The heart of the people is rotten. It is not easily amended, but until it is there will be Sandy Hooks.

Furthermore it is a most unwise time to allow yourself to be disarmed.

Took God out of schools and allowed marxist teachers to brainwash the kids who now make up the most illiterate electorate in American history.

What happened is uncontrolled immigration from third-world countries, where people came here and continued to live the lifestyle they were accustomed to over there. Then, they demanded that everyone else accede to their cultures instead of acclimating to their new country's culture.

America is dead and gone. The final nail in the coffin was the 2008 election of an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. America had a great run. Remember it fondly for what it was, but there’s no point hanging onto the past.

The United States of America is now little more than a land mass populated by cretins, ingrates, and parasites who have absolutely no respect for the military and who vote for big government to confiscate money from their neighbors so that it may be “redistributed” to them in exchange for their votes. It is not an America worth defending anymore. That America no longer exists.

The parasites outnumber the hosts now, and there’s no going back. America is dead.
The Democrats have won.

Nothing lasts forever (shrug) and there’s no point crying or whining about it. My recommendation to every decent human left out there is to throw some cold water in your face and proceed to ‘Plan B’. Figure out how to grab every government dime you possibly can before the parasites who comprise the Democrat party “base” gobble it all up. Look for angles. Look for refuge. Hide what you have. Get under the radar and game the system. Every man for himself.

Good luck, everybody.

By the way, some freepers may reply that I’m “quitting”, or “whining and wringing my hands”... I am neither. I will continue to fight if only to keep the scum from fully enjoying the fruits of their efforts. And I am not whining and wringing my hands - - in fact, I’m having a blast! The sooner normal, traditional Americans come to grips with the fact that the America they knew and loved and grew up in is dead and gone, the sooner they can act to hide and secure what they have and take care of their families, and screw the everyday scum who voted away the greatest nation in history. Let them flounder around miserably in their greed, stupidity, and ignorance. Refuse to join in.

This country began its descent into Progressivism and ultimate ruin exactly 100 years ago, starting with the income tax. Everything that began as “reasonable” has become progressively worse.

There are those who immediately shriek that it was the gun at fault, completely ignoring the other societal factors that brought a deranged madman to execute an unfathomable act. Then there are those who argue that there exists nothing that we can do to keep the means of mass murder out of the hands of these freaks.

False Dichotomy. I stopped reading right there. I already know this author is going to spend a good chunk of the balance of the article ragging the NRA.

What Happened to Our Country?

For many generations parents have not been making sure that their children are being taught the Founding States' division of federal and state government powers evidenced by the Constitution's Section 8 of Article I, Article V and the 10th Amendment. Consequently, corrupt Congress and the Oval Office have not only been wrongly usurping 10th Amendment protected state powers and stealing state revenues associated with those unique state powers, but constitutionally ignorant state lawmakers are now regularly begging Congress for federal funding for state projects, state lawmakers not making the connection that federal funding is based on state revenues that Congress stole in the form of illegal federal taxes. (Are you listening bankrupt California?)

In fact, Justice John Marshall had officially clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues, issues which Congress cannot justify under Section 8.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Military issues aside, an examination of Section 8 shows that the main activity that Congress can regulate within the states is postal services (Article I, Section 8, Clause 7).
