During the age of Obama, the major media have gone fully AWOL. If they fear that their reporting will lead to inconvenient discoveries, they simply stop their advance, lay down their notebooks, and disappear. This trend began in the Clinton years and picked up momentum after the 1994 electoral debacle, but the Clintons at least worried that the media might turn on them.
If Barack Obama ever had any such anxiety, the nonreporting on Fast and Furious, Benghazi and now Sandy Hook has had to reassure him. Sandy Hook is particularly disturbing because the truth is, or at least should have been, so accessible. This tragedy should never have spawned anything like a conspiracy theory, but it obviously has.

Why handguns?
They are the easily concealed and difficult to detect weapon of political assassination.
But they also require close proximity and a fair degree of training/practice for accuracy (beyond 25ft), and most common handgun calibers will not penetrate bullet-proof vests (with a frontal hit), requiring a head shot for lethality.
Maybe I’m too tired, and reading this article wrong. But I’m new to the idea of her getting guns from her brother.

You have been here long enough to know that name calling and insults directed at a FReeper is frowned upon. Especially one who did not direct their initial response to you.
We disagree. Grow up.
Tell that to these guys:

Assassination Attempt on Bulgarian Opposition Leader Ahmed Dogan (MRF)
Thanks for making my point: the would-be assassin needed to get close, went for a lethal head shot, but his gun failed (or he failed to load/use it properly). Having failed and being on stage in front of everyone he was easily overpowered and detained.
I’m sure that’s a relief to politicians and public personalities everywhere because none of the people attracted to them ever get close enough to do such a thing.
BTW since you live right there in Newtown hows about you drive over to the school and take a picture of the front door and the window where the glass is broken, and post it here???
Crossing police tape and getting myself arrested for the curiosity of anonymous people online is not what I do for a living.

Possibly two things: From the article: Nancy Lanza was the sister of Kingston Police Officer James Champion, who lives next door to the former Lanza family home, sources said. ... .
The gunman who authorities say murdered 26 people at a school in Connecticut lived with his family in Kingston until 1998, official records show.
The questions are 1: whether he was taught to shoot by his police officer uncle, as well as his mother, and 2: whether the police-only rifle and shotgun came from him as well. Suddenly, law enforcement doesn't want to talk about the source of the "assault rifle." That may well be why.
Interesting. Thank you.
These are police only rifles ?
And I thought they closed down the Connecticut gun store where they claimed the rifles came from ? (After an air rifle was stolen from the store)
It’s all just crazy. The idea is still to confiscate all firearms, everywhere. Lets not lose sight of their goal.
From the CT state Police Public Affairs Officer:
January 18, 2013
** UPDATE **
STATE POLICE IDENTIFY WEAPONS USED IN SANDY HOOK INVESTIGATION;
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Seized inside the school:
#1. Bushmaster .223 caliber-- model XM15-E2S rifle with high capacity 30 round clips
#2. Glock 10 mm handgun
#3. Sig-Sauer P226 9mm handgun
Seized from suspects car in parking lot: #4. Izhmash Canta-12 12 gauge Shotgun (seized from car in parking lot)
This case remains under investigation. Lt. J. Paul Vance
When one searches Izhmash Canta the results are countless pages of articles, discussion board posts and blog reports referencing the CT State Police press release Ive cited above; however if you are looking for information about or even a gun store selling a firearm called Izhmash Canta only a handful exist.
In my search I found a Saiga-12 message forum and a thread from January 2009 asking what is a Canta 12?
The answer: Canta is the Russian spelling of Saiga.
The Saiga 12 is classified in many articles as a semi-automatic smooth bore shotgun. It was VERY weird when I searched the Izhmash company itself I discovered the company DOES NOT and has not previously manufactured a firearm model called the Canta.
Why would the CT State Police go out of their way to mislead the public by calling a Saiga-12 a Canta-12???
Oh yeah, one last thing about the Saiga 12 and why it might have been identified as a Canta in the CT Police press release, I think that this might interest many folks:
From January 31, 2012:
U.S. Police to Buy Izhmash Shotguns
Izhmash, the manufacturer of the legendary Kalashnikov AK-47, will supply Saiga-12 semi-automatic smooth bore shotguns to a number of police forces in the U.S., Izhmash reported on its web site on Tuesday.
From the article:
At the exhibition, Izhmash also signed an agreement on exclusive imports to the U.S. market with Russian Weapon Company and an agreement with Fime Group as Izhmashs partner for manufacturing classic firearm models. Shot Show also provided an opportunity for buyers from Central American countries to sign contracts on direct delivery of Izhmash sporting and hunting weapons for the first time. Previously they had only been able to buy Izhmash products via intermediaries in the U.S.
The results of the exhibition are inspiring. The American market in non-military weapons is booming. We project a 20 percent increase in deliveries this year, Kuzyuk said.
Yes absolutely. Not one of them could possibly be incompetency of the media.
come on....
