An Albuquerque shooting has left five people dead and a teenager charged, with investigators still combing over a home on the outskirts of the New Mexico city for clues as to what happened.
In the Albuquerque shooting, a man, a woman, and three children were found killed in a home near the city. The victims were found on Saturday night at a home on the southwestern edge of the city, said Deputy Aaron Williamson, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.
Each victim was shot multiple times, and police found several guns at the home including what they termed a “military-style” rifle. Police said they now are trying to determine who owned several guns that were found inside the home, including the military-style rifle.
The teenager police believe is responsible has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse. He will likely be arraigned on Tuesday, police said.
The boy is believed to be about 15 years old, The Associated Press reported. The shooting took place in an unincorporated area that lies about 10 minutes southwest of downtown Albuquerque.
Police said they weren’t sure how the teenager was related to the victims, and Williamson would not say whether the victims were related, CNN reported. He noted that police were still trying to figure out exactly what their relation was.
Police have still not released the identities of the victims of the Albuquerque shooting.
The Albuquerque shooting takes place in a highly charged political climate related to gun crimes. The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December has placed a stronger focus on crimes committed with guns, especially those with so-called assault rifles.

Saw a demonstration of this one up close in Lexington MA (by two women no less). I could not believe how loud it was, and I can’t imagine 100 hundred of these going off at the same time in close battle. I bet some of those guys went deaf.
Notice how they repeat the “Military style” weapon over and over again..yesterday I read about a burglary at a restaurant where the suspect used a fire extinguisher, waiting for the media to report on that one

This reminds me of shark attacks. There was one summer a few years ago when it seemed like they were reporting one shark attack per week. It wasn’t that sharks had suddenly decided humans are tasty & begun going on a rampage, but you couldn’t turn the TV on without hearing another news teaser about it. The topic had caught public’s eye, so the media was scouring the globe for more attacks to feed the frenzy. There may some other reasons here as well, but I’m still reminded of the summer of shark attacks.

That doesn't make sense. The charge for killing a child is "child abuse," not murder? Maybe it's the way the statutes are written or something, or maybe the state believes if you kill a kid it's a cinch to prove the elements of abuse. Yes, I would agree that killing a child is pretty abusive.

I believe it was an assault extinguisher..dont worry..already contacted Feinstein about this..if we can just save one life from these dreadful devices its worth it
I recall when the enviros used to say there was no recorded attack of a human by a shark in the 80s. May have been a reaction to the release of Jaws in ‘75. And then we started getting shark attack reports frequently after that.

Over the last fifty years there has been a frantic effort to “de-militarize” citizens from owning anything military. The 1968 GCL forbade the import of bolt action 5 shot army surplus rifles or handguns.
Police rifles were OK, but not Army surplus, even though it was the same rifle style.
