Via Breitbart:
On August 1, 2009just seven months into President Barack Obamas first termformer Alaska Governor Sarah Palin predicted Obama would attempt to leverage health care to take away the Second Amendment rights of Americans.
In a speech to National Rifle Association members in Anchorage, Alaska, Palin said Americans should be wary of this tie-in because Obama would attempt to take away our rights under the guise of some new health care plan:
And by the way, [with] health care being so big in D.C. right now, be wary when some kind of tie-in occurs. Because it will crop up: a tie-in with guns in an attempt to take away our rights under the guise of some new health care plan. You know that this is comingthat the two issues will somehow crop up and theyll be tied together. So we have to be very wary of that.
On Wednesdaymore than three years after Palins warningObama did exactly what the former governor forecasted.
During a press conference wherein he issued 23 executive actions regarding guns and unveiled his gun control proposals, including a ban on so-called assault weapons, Obama said doctors and other health care providers also need to be able to ask about firearms in their patients homes and safe storage of those firearms, especially if their patients show signs of certain mental illnesses or if they have a young child or mentally ill family member at home.
To make it easier for doctors to do so, Obama also issued executive actions that would clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes. The White House also released a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
In Obamas gun control plan, which the White House released on Wednesday, there is a section titled Preserve The Rights of Mental Health Care Providers To Protect Their Patients and Communities From Gun Violence. It reads, we should never ask doctors and other health care providers to turn a blind eye to the risks posed by guns in the wrong hands, and proposes to:
Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence: Doctors and other mental health professionals play an important role in protecting the safety of their patients and the broader community by reporting direct and credible threats of violence to the authorities. But there is public confusion about whether federal law prohibits such reports about threats of violence. The Department of Healthand Human Services is issuing a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibitsthese reports in any way.
Protect the rights of health care providers to talk to their patients about gun safety: Doctors and other health care providers also need to be able to ask about firearms in their patients homes and safe storage of those firearms, especially if their patients show signs of certain mental illnesses or if they have a young child or mentally ill family member at home. Some have incorrectly claimed that language in the Affordable Care Act prohibits doctors from asking their patients about guns and gun safety. Medical groups also continue to fight against state laws attempting to ban doctors from asking these questions. The Administration will issue guidance clarifying that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit or otherwise regulate communication between doctors and patients, including about firearms.
The NRA, which filed a friend-of-the-court brief, said the Florida law exhorts doctors to stick to practicing medicine rather than pushing their own political agendas, and it protects patients from doctors who refuse to do so.
More than three years ago in her speech (blogger KentonAK first revealed the existence of the footage), Palin notedto the Alaska NRA membersshe was the only person on either ticket during the 2008 election who was a lifetime member of the NRA.

My other concern apart from the doctors is what position the sheriffs will take.
We live in a rural county of NC and we have a good sheriff. A Democrat but conservative and a good guy. I haven’t heard what he plans to do if the “Gun Grab” commences.
I pray he has the good sense to uphold the Constitution. We have A LOT of hunters around here!
If he didn’t pick Sarah, could you imagine the impacts of 2010 and 2012 without her influences? She’d be up in Alaska, out of site, out of mind, and facing all sorts of barriers. She’s exposed the crime lords of DC (MSM, GOPe) for the true frauds they surely are.
SHE got me back into the fight!!!!
Sorry, no time machines or second guessing God’s will.
They probably just want to post them on their website: peopleyoushouldgetangrywithbecausetheyliveanunhealthylifestyleandincreaseyourhealtcarecosts.org
And yet, we have 535 members of Congress and not one of them predicted, yet they all swear they’re smarter and more qualified than Gov. Palin to be president.
It's because she's not "perfect" in their view.
Whoa! Hold on now, she may not be perfect, but they can surely COMPROMISE their positions.
Otherwise the Democrat will win and we can't have that.
After all we all have to vote occasionally for someone we don't want to, surly the GOP people will accept Sarah as our nominee and make sure other Republicans fall in line.
Hey, isn’t that the guy who really didn’t want to run for POTUS after all, but was talked into it?
So, so wrong ... as long as people are humans, it's salvageable. All of that decay -- economic, cultural, moral -- boatloads of of it is the direct result of government interference from all directions, be it a well-organized screaming liberal education system, or labor, health and safety, tax, enrivonmental, and who knows how many other niggling regulations and laws that stifle business growth and employment. Heck, a teenaged kid doesn't even have the right to tell the government to get lost, that he's perfectly okay with apprenticing at the garage down the street for whatever he damned well will accept, and if it's below "minimum wage," whose business is that? See, kids don't have that freedom now. Government has made a horrific impact on morality and culture with "minimum wage" laws alone.
There's fabulous potential for salvage. The first step is to reclaim local territory over the government in terms of personal rights.
These are approaching risky times. Risk is the price you pay for opportunity.
Not to argue with you but I would disagree with your statement. The MSM is successfully doing everything in its power to keep him relevant and portray him as the great messiah.........
Yes, he is.
Why do you think they don't teach history in school anymore?
Call attention to myself by not answering if I have throw rugs? Fine.
Never tell your doctor you have firearms in the house.
Never.
No risk, no reward!
We are still Americans (most of us, anyways), and we know how things can work! While Zero is trying to destroy our economy, with proper guidance from someone like Sarah Palin (who actually has run a business and run a state!) we can recover. It won't be instant, but even the trillions we owe can be paid and we can bank even more!
First order, JOBS!!! You make jobs by cutting taxes and regulations! Then those working contribute rather than take!
We need a complete overhaul of SS and make it for those who paid into the system for now, but replace it with personal retirement funds! We need to find doctors who will assess the "disabled" and make that systematic abuse disappear!
We already know where her heart lies, America and her family!
Each questionaire has had the question about firearms in the house and I checked off YES and said LOTS........
The doctors never once asked me about that answer.............
Does that get reported to the government? I doubt it but even if it does, I could care less because the government has a record of every registered firearm I have in my house..........and this goes back at least twenty years.
GOP tolerates liberals. Liberals are liberals whether they're in the GOP or DEM. They're the enemy, and if they're leaders in your party ... you're in the wrong party.
The real question is, can Palin reestablish the Republican "brand" and credibility with the American people? Or would America respond more (and the majoritiy are sorely tempted) to a "None of the Above" new party whose brand was someting like, Smaller government, more freedom to live and prosper. Republicans are just as bad as Democrats when it comes to cooking up bigger and more intrusive governments. Time for a party that stands to do THE OPPOSITE.
Very true Finny.
Also, a little something to remember when you make that point.
Communist goal Number 15:
-Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
While Palin may have energized people like yourself in 2008, that was only because McCain was such a lame candidate. My thinking is that without her in 2008, and no leadership from Congress, after 4 years of Obama she would have been even bigger bursting on the scene in 2011. And, as I said, being more prepared, having her own trusted people around her, and having 6 years of being a governor behind her, she would have have none of the weaknesses that allowed the media to rip her apart in 2008. Yes, they would have tried to find something else, but nothing else would have done her in.
It must be wonderful being a liberal, to wake up each morning and have history start anew. Sometimes I think that I would be much happier living as a moron liberal, but alas, I don’t have the discipline to stay off FR!
I never tire of saying this — Gov Palin has the greatest political brain this country has ever experienced.
