No place to hide: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, pictured today in London, said there was 'no justification for the kidnapping and murder of innocent people' in Algeria and warned militants there was 'no place to hide'

Islamist militants have today offered to free two American hostages held captive at an Algerian gas field in exchange for the release of two renowned terrorists jailed in the United States.

The attempt to negotiate comes after a US citizen and up to 12 Britons, who were kidnapped with dozens of other foreign oil workers on Wednesday, were killed in a botched rescue mission by Algerian forces.

The outrageous offer is likely to fall flat in Washington as the Obama administration routinely refuses to give in to the demands of terrorists.

Algeria's state news service reported at around 11 a.m. EST that nearly 100 of the 132 foreign workers kidnapped had now been freed.

The service earlier reported that as many as 60 hostages remained unaccounted for as the bloody siege entered its third day. The new information, however, still meant the fate of over 30 foreign energy workers was unclear.

Yesterday's air raid, which was carried out by Algerian helicopters and special forces without the prior knowledge of the US government, was meant to wipe out the al-Qaeda-linked militants and free the dozens of foreigners from at least 10 countries who were being held, but instead left scores of people dead, injured or missing.

Moltke ~:” ( from the article) Leon Panetta, pictured today in London, said there was ‘no justification for the kidnapping and murder of innocent people’ in Algeria and warned militants there was ‘no place to hide’ “

Yeah , like how did that ‘proper response’ work in Lybia (4 months ago)
where the brazen attackers remained out in the open ?
Panetta is still trying to write that post-it note in response!

Crickets ,... chirp ,..... chirp

Good point. Please, Leon, tell us the justification for doing nothing while 41 State Dept. and CIA employees were being shot at and firebombed?

Three Facts

Fact One:

1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBA (cross border authority) command for a rescue mission in a foreign nation.

Plus Fact Two:

2) No rescue mission was attempted.

Equals Fact Three:

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.

Did Leon make the recommendation to 0bama to fuhgeddaboudit and go to bed?

All three facts are true , in part :
# 1) Only the POTUS can authorize a CBAc ~ True !
# 2) No rescue mission was attempted (wrong :thru channels thats true !- however at least two military officers were relieved of command within 30 seconds of disobeying the order to ‘stand down ‘ as they proceeded to assemble a rescue squad).
# 3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day .~ true !

The main missing link is : WHO ORDERED, or gave the command to : “STAND DOWN “
That is where the culpability and responsibility for all those people lays , as well as all the deaths .
Personally ,.. I believe it was a “set-up” by the State Dept. to release the ‘Blind Shiek’ ,and fund weapons purchases to be used by the Moose-liams in Syria , Mali , Algeria ,and all Africa , and elsewhere .

# 2) No rescue mission was attempted (wrong :thru channels thats true !- however at least two military officers were relieved of command within 30 seconds of disobeying the order to ‘stand down ‘ as they proceeded to assemble a rescue squad).

First, they weren't military officers they were former SEALs who were working as private contractors for the CIA at the time. One in Benghazi and one in Tripoli. The one in Tripoli was never told to "stand down" by anyone. That was Glen Doherty and he was not on scene in Benghazi until after Tyrone Woods' team had returned from the main consulate to the 'annex.'

Secondly, although it was reported that someone, unidentified, told Tyrone Woods not to go to the main consulate property twice that is irrelevant to my 'fact #2.' Both Woods and Doherty were already in-country and would not have needed a CBA from the President to act.
