Funny, I was talking to my wife about this the other night and we supposed that the 650K viewership is ENTIRELY made up of airports, hotels, and other lobbys across the US. I don’t believe even one person watches it in their homes.

CNN == INGSOC Telescreens

And if they’re SAMSUNG telescreens they will spy on you while you watch.

I may be wrong but i always suspected that it might be partly because fox news channel does not come with some of the cheaper cable packages whereas CNN does.

Good for you! I too was in a local doctor’s office/clinic that had CNN blaring the other day. I about went nuts as the anti-gun propaganda was overwhelming. Made a decision to contact “corporate” about that as well.

Darn tired of it!

If the remote is handy or the TV’s controls accessible, I am never shy any more. I may ask if anyone minds, but I will either change the channel or at least turn the volume way down - Oil change shops, doctor’s offices, whereever. We’re the customer, dammit!

Anyway, what ever hapened to a good book?

A local Shell gasoline station that I patronize has a big screen mounted on the wall that is always tuned to Fox. The owner is a naturalized American, originally from India.

A lot of places used to put on Fox News since it was the number one cable news channel, but liberals are very tenacious about complaining about it.

This really highlights a big problem. For the left, politics is like a religion. They are very determined and fanatical when it comes to this stuff, and they do NOT like the population seeing opinions they don’t like. The same thing played out in our building. Every time the lobby TV’s were on Fox News (simply because it was the most popular cable channel) some liberal would demand the channel be changed.

So good on your for raising this issue. We really need to be as active as the left about this stuff. We need to start viewing this more like a war than political differences. Every single bit we can each do to help the cause really matters.

Don’t you and your friend have more important things to worry about? Nobody is being forced to look at the TV.

This is also one of my pet peeves. At the (US Govt) installation where I work, they at least try to be fair and split the public TV screens between CNN and Fox. I think this is the perfect illustration of the stupidity of Republican “leaders”. They are absolutely clueless as to the holistic, 24/7 nature of the struggle they face. I am sure that if Fox dominated public screens (airports, etc), Democrats in Congress would attempt to force a change, because they think strategically. But Republicans are mired in myopic, purely-tactical thinking.

By the same token, when Republican candidates allow the opposition to determine the debate moderators, not only do they suffer tactical defeat, but their acquiescence also helps to de-legitimize the one network that is reasonably fair, and thus has strategic implications.

Can't anyone here play this game?

It’s not only that.

Consider - if you go on a business trip, what newspaper is likely delivered to your door as a courtesy by the hotel?

That’s right - USA Today.

Ever peruse that “paper”? Mid-Left in outlook, it will be found in most hotels and airports. Lots of people read it on the airplane too.

In order to fight this battle, hotels have to offer something more than USA Toady (intentional renaming).

I just went half-way across the country to see my dad in a nursing care facility and he was watching CNN.

Whenever he would turn it on, I would leave the room. Then come back. If it was still on — I would leave again.

He teased me about watching Fox News in the morning — to which I replied that I don’t watch TV anymore. I just haven’t gotten my TV put where I want it.

But Lo and Behold — I entered the airport and in the waiting room — they had on Fox News — Great Lakes and Frontier Airlines will get my business becuase of this!

Many forget that in allot of places the only reason Fox News can be on is that loads of people demanded that their cable provider get it. Never heard of the same ever happening with CNN or MSNBC anywhere.

I’ve noticed this all over the world in international sections of airports and in Hotels, CNNI is far more common than BBC. I generally mark it up to payola.

When I go somewhere I will have to wait I take a book with me. I just can’t stand Candy Cow-ly, or Wolf-butt Blitzer, or the bald headed black guy with nothing on top of his head and even less within it.

Guess we’re lucky here in our part of mid-south-Jersey - our local diner almost always has Fox on, while a local restaurant goes with CNBC - another diner one town over also goes with CNBC - maybe watching CNN was spoiling people’s appetities.....

It amuses me when they show a 4:3 picture on these sets and stretch it to 16:9. Americans aren’t getting fatter, they are getting flatter.

Hell - CNN is the new PBS and fully government backed. Most waiting rooms on the Base have CNN on and I find it ironic that the same doctors’ offices that have signs railing against ObamaCare, usually have their waiting room televisions tuned to CNN.
