Got a bunch of painkillers for my shoulder surgery. Took 4 because they mess with my head so much that I’d rather deal with the pain.

Fine — you chose that.

Maybe a more conscientious system of following up on people who might have used less than they were expected to might make sense. Or instructions that if the patient doesn’t want it all, he should flush the rest or take them to a pharmacy or whatnot. As with the trans fat and large drink things, this is a blind stab in the dark totally unresearched feel good move.

Same with me. Broke 4 ribs in 7 places up high in my back in August. They had to morphine me up to get me onto the ambulance gurney, then once I had the diagnosis, they did nothing.

Took 4 of the 30 Vicodin they gave me, then decided I just didn't want to sit and drool and watch the sun race across the sky.

The worst was the muscle relaxants. I took one of those. Turned me into a mean, psychotic, angry sumbitch (although some would argue that I was that all along).

After that, I just decided to gut it up and live with it.
