Rick Perry: I Can’t Make Cuomo A Texan
ynn.com ^ | ? | ?

I’m sure I couldn’t get all 49 other governors to admit they would want to be Texans. Just reading the front of the Drudge Report today, I’m thinking Governor Cuomo would not admit he would want to be a Texan. But if he would be truthful, he would say that the economic climate that has allowed that state to grow and create jobs, he would dearly love to be able to stand up in say ‘We did this in New York. But he can’t.”

...have voted multiple times for Perry.

So have I, but I don't usually admit to it in public :-)

(I know, I know. What else were we supposed to do?)

Should Perry run again I will likely vote for him again.

Even if there's a real conservative in the running?

New York still has some real ghettos, to be sure, but most of its neighborhoods are vibrant as all get-out. High rates of home-ownership and entrepreneurship, streets bustling and things going on morning, noon and night. In lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn it’s mostly white people, elsewhere it’s South Americans, Arabs, Chinese, Indians, Koreans, Bangladeshis, Hasidic Jews, anglophone West Africans, francophone west Africans, Polish, Bukharin Jews, Russians Jews, Russian non-Jews, Albanians, etc. etc. It’s all the world in one place. The future whether you like it or not. American conservativism embraces it or dies out. Just that simple.

Agreed. I’m sorry Perry didn’t make it out of the primaries last year. He would have been a great president.

Who would that be?

I see you're avoiding the question, which was presented as a simple hypothetical.

The guy was not cut out for stardom.
Still, the proof is in the pudding, Texas has prospered on his watch.

Funny I live right here in Central Texas in the Devil’s Backbone country, home to the old German farmer stock that run our counties very conservatively with balanced budgets and some of the best well kept roads and bridges. Who work very well with Rick Perry.

Where is your ‘down here’?

In fact I worked very well with Rick Perry on my county’s ad hoc education committee when we inventoried the schools all over the state and found a lot of excess baggage using up money that should’ve been used in the classrooms.

Not to mention that I worked for 12 years right across the street from the capitol in both the Bush and Perry admins and got to know them both well.

Nope, no nanny statist business from Perry, works harder than anybody I know to bring companies in with jobs for us.

Private property grabber? Are you talking about the Trans Corridor that was to be built legislated by the US Congress? Yeah, we had a dust up about that but we solved it.

Corporate welfare cronyist? Yeah, I heard that rumor also. Too bad and independent review board oversees that money.

Illegal alien hispander? No, I don’t think so. He’s put more protection on our southern border than the feds have. Currently hiring vets and putting 100 game wardens down there who’ll have authority to patrol any land down there, including federal lands. Texas Dream Act? I worked on that committe also, reports came in favorably from almost every county except about 5 out of 272. Those kids are here, they’re not going anywhere, the feds won’t deport them, so why not allow them to ‘pay’ in state tuition, qualify them for jobs that will keep them off the welfare rolls instead of living off somebody else’s money the rest of their lives. Win/win for the state, didn’t cost us a dime.

Lots of silly rumors out there about Rick Perry thrown out there during the primary, mostly perpetuated by the Marxist commies in our own state.

I’ve been to NYC the many times. It is exciting lots of hustle and bustle, entertainment, food love all the ethnic foods to be found there. But after three or four days of dealing with the traffic, noise, subways smell like urine and body odor, crowded rush hour streets, hailing cabs, I just want to start pushing and shoving so I can walk a straight line down the street without being bumped. Plus everything is way too expensive and over-rated, and the price of housing is atrocious. New York state has some beautiful country but it’s way too cold, and again, I’m just a wide open spaces kind of person who’s only neighbor is over 3 miles away and enjoy my semi-arid temperate, yet beautiful seasons. I was offererd a job in NYC, was wowed by the money, but the high cost of living, I wouldn’t have gained much.

“What else were we supposed to do?”

There you have it-—or, could we do. Perry’s far from perfect, but he beats the hell out of the other choice.
