Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress

A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."

Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:

Patriotism Pride in American Exceptionalism Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse. Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."

Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated.

The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.

The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased.

While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:

"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Stop feeding the beast. Make your own citadel. If millions of like minded individuals would agree to withold their tax payments or to eke them out over a long period; the Obamanation would no longer be able to provide its minions with free livelihood. They would be in deep trouble until they agreed to negotiate with the makers instead of bribing the takers.

"Another message of the plot deals with the backstory of the post-apocalyptic world: specifically, that it was not the electronics-destroying electromagnetic pulses, nor the destruction of major cities, nor the release of various bio-engineered plagues that actually destroyed society: rather, it was the hypersurvivalists themselves, those who maintained stockpiles of weapons and ammunition and who preyed on humanitarian workers and other forces of order."

Interesting group to blame.

I never even heard of the movie (but that's not too surprising as I don't even watch much TV).

This is rather stupid. The key to success is not telling everyone including the enemy what you are up to....

Just hope this doesn’t end up like Jones Town. As long as it is run under rule of law, everything sounds cool.

Good suggestion. Also, there are many islands for sale throughout the world.

“Somewhere in the bowels of Obamaland, Citadel was just placed on the DHS targeting list.”

Which Citadel? /Semi-S

"Also, there are many islands for sale throughout the world. "

Yeah, but for those you'll need some auto ballasting system to keep them from capsizing.

You and I have that in common, I have never seen one either, but it seems a good hacker can take one out, as Iran now has to of them to copy thanks to Obama.

No one is trying to take over another country. Unless you count the obamists. When it starts would you rather be in your suburb on in a home that sits on 1 acre, or a massive subdivision of like minded people with area to out manuveur your attackers, and to drill for it on occassion.

manufactoring should be done “underground”. In non-key community members garages/basements.

I can see a tin hat despot running this like a fiefdom.

That's the problem I have with this - who runs the show?

My other comment is that this seems more to be a defense against the communist indoctrination of our culture as well as defense against the rampant crime by those who think they're "entitled" to other people's stuff. Hard to imagine these people really think they could defend against a hostile communist military. (Ironic since from what I can tell this place would be sort of commune like).

Slightly related:

Larry Ellison Buys Lanai

In June, Oracle ORCL -0.14% co-founder Larry Ellison purchased 98% of the Hawaiian island of Lanai, valued at more than $500 million, for an undisclosed price. The sale included the two Four Seasons resorts on the island, two golf courses and more than 88,000 acres of land.

It is unfortunately a common habit to refer to “Nazis” instead of “Germans”. The history of it, as has been explained to me, is that it was invented by the Soviet propaganda to in a way shield their vassal state the DDR, that is the “good Germans” (in fact there was as many if not more former Nazis in East Germany as in the West, and certainly more that were never pursued for their wartime crimes, simply because Communist states were essentially lawless) from association with Nazi Germany. The monicker has served us in the West as well, and has become common. Yet, only about 6% of the German population belonged to the party.

I think walls around the big cities would be more serviceable.

Sounds like a lot of money, and it is until you divide it by 5,000 or 10,000 people. Then it becomes more accessible for many more people, less than the cost of a half acre lot in many areas. Two acres apiece with nearly 70,000 acres to spare, use that for ag production, gamelands, timber, manufacturing. No idea how you’d coordinate such a group buy, though. The State Of Hawaii might find it a little perturbing, too.

yep, the redoubt theory of defense is an anachronism. Best defense is a good offense. I thought Patton made that case for all time.

This is a very attractive idea! ... but just like a red Corvette seems to act like a red flag to some cops, just asking for a ticket ... having a community like this, with an open declaration of following read principles of independence, will act as a red flag to the feds, just asking for the feds to stomp all over them as soon as they commit some minor infraction. Better to keep a low profile. If this community gets off the ground, sooner or later it will have the “fun” of being a test case of some sort.

there should be angled bastions instead of round towers for better visibility. I don’t know of any city that has ever withstood a prolonged siege, but I can’t stress enough the importance of uninterruptable energy, water, and food...

Don't be stupid. The whole f*ing establishment would be obliterated in one air strike.

You idiots have been playing too many video games.
