A woman is behind bars after police say she tried to walk inside a Philadelphia high school with a loaded gun in a diaper bag.
A school district spokesman says the adult woman, identified as 21-year-old Kelly Jones, was entering South Philadelphia High School on Thursday to register for evening classes when school police at the X-ray machine spotted the .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun.

So she’s in jail for two government created “crimes”.
What word would you have used?
School police? X-Ray machines? You mean Philly schools are ARMED CAMPS? In a Democrat’s district?
govt created crimes? no serial number and no permit? so many here on FR say that if we only enforced the current gun laws, we might not be in the position we’re in. seems those laws are being enforced.
Isn’t that what lots of folks here are saying we need?
Oooo... you in trouble now, lady. Had it been something else other than an assault pistol we might not even be readin' this, huh?
School police? X ray machines?
I am more than glad I no longer have kids in government controlled schools which are full of unionized government teachers...
What utter chaos...
I don’t get the problem here... looks like she is a bit off by bringing a diaper bag to a high school, perhaps her kid has some “issues”, as typically high schoolers are out of the diaper stage...
Do you really think she went there to shoot someone?
Remember, our objective should be to STOP THE SHOOTERS long before they think of that, not just bust people with a gun.
I’d want to be armed if I went into a Philadelphia public school ... or into Philadelphia at all! You just can’t win these days.
I don’t care what many people say.
Serial numbers and permits are an infringement in my opinion.

The gun had a “obliterated” serial number, Nodiff said. Jones had no permit to carry the gun.
What word would you have used?
So, what bag is this article referring to?
It's hardly unusual for a young woman to use a large DESIGNER bag for all sorts of purposes~!!! Since the bag had to be placed in the device where they found the firearm, it's pretty clear she didn't even know it was there.
I get so tired of the permit restrictions. Her permit is the 2nd amendment the sooner someone with means can challenge this manifested usurp of that amendment the better. The average citizen would never get through the courts financially.
No, you're not paying attention or thinking.
America was once a land of volunteers, prior to big government's total control and regulation over everything.
Why not use parent armed volunteers?
Use the local police or sheriff to ONLY conduct backgrounds and maybe provide some free training for volunteers, seek out military veterans and or others with experience to volunteer...Government teachers are bad enough, and they need to teach...Use volunteers...Does this make too much sense?
You could put 5 qualified and screened armed parents in and around every damn school in the country at very *minimal* cost.
WTF is wrong with that?
Oh, I know what's wrong with it...The government can't control it regulate it or concoct more ways to raise taxes!
A real crime has three parts. A perptetrator. A victim. And damage done.
So the perp is supposedly this woman. The victim is who? The “law? Itself? How do you face that in court? Lastly... What damage did she do? Did her gun go off and hurt a stack of law books?
We need to restore sanity to our legal system. Too many generations of “lawyers” writing “laws” to keep themselves in business...
Only trying to point out the utter hypocrisy of the Left when Democrat politicians are using the dead kids of Newtown to try and score points about how evil it would be to have a cop stationed at a school.
My point is that inner-city schools have much more than "a cop". They are armed camps. Have been for years. Of course, the MSM will never bring that up during this debate.
