Vice President Joe Biden butted heads with the powerful National Rifle Association on Thursday in his drive to reduce U.S. gun violence, drawing complaints from the lobby group that the White House is trying to limit constitutionally protected gun rights.
Biden sat down for about an hour and a half of talks with an NRA representative and officials from other gun owners' groups after telling reporters he is likely to recommend background checks for all gun buyers and a ban on high-capacity ammunition clips.
"It is unfortunate that this administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen," the NRA said in a statement after the meeting.

The vice president's office had no substantive reaction to the NRA statement, which was issued less than an hour after the talks ended.

It can’t - ergo universal registration is part of the agenda.
“Biden said there is only a “tight window” for action.
Code words that mean there is a limited time before the “moderate” Republicans can screw up their courage and support the Constitution.
Biden doesn’t want mentally disabled people pulled aside. He, himself, has had brain surgery three times ~ UNSUCCESSFULLY.
Obama and Biden have no interest in solving problems, only in creating problems.
Let’s see how long it takes the NRA to sell out its members.
What's your problem Jack, are you anti 2nd Amendment and anti gun?
The NRA isn’t pro-2nd Amendment enough for me. I stick with the GOA which doesn’t compromise like the NRA.
The deal would be that private parties would have to go to a FFL dealer for transfer processing and background checks .BY mandating a fee be paid to the FFL dealer the adminstration hopes to buy their support.Plus it eliminates “competition”.
Have you never heard used and new car dealers grumbing about private car sales “hurting the market” ?
THe statists want nothing to happen without it being regulated, taxed, and tracked.
We're all in the same boat. Can you point to any of the individual GOA successes in quashing proposed gun restrictions or overturning anti 2nd Amendment laws?
SO they expect me to run a backgound check on somebody that I am going to sell a gun to, or have him run one on me?
It’s a private sale. No dice Baraq.
I’m sure they’ll argue that the NICS check should happen at an FFL, where the buyer would undergo the check (and pay a fee).
I can’t believe it’ll ever happen. But, I also knew the SCOTUS would never approve Obamacare.
Tyrant. He will raise his obnoxious voice, as he has done before. Make ready, as his breath is bad.
The GOA has been described by Congressman Ron Paul as “The only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington.” This quote from Paul has long been displayed prominently on the home page of the Gun Owners of America website, and Paul was the only 2008 Presidential candidate to receive an A+ grade from Gun Owners of America.
GOA Victories
On June 6, 1995, GOA helped in lobbying the House of Representatives to vote against the Moran Amendment, by a vote of 278 to 149. The amendment would have banned .50 caliber weaponry from being licensed for export.[23]
On July 13, 2006, Senator David Vitter (R-LA) saw an 84-16 vote for his amendment prohibiting the use of federal money for federal agents to confiscate weapons during a declared state of emergency. This bill was passed not even a year after the devastation in Vitter’s home state from Hurricane Katrina.[24]
On June 27, 2007, the Pence Amendment passed. The bill, named after Representative Mike Pence (R-IN), was passed by a vote of 309-115. According to GOA the amendment blocked the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) ability to use the Fairness Doctrine in order to radically limit the free speech allowed by organizations like GOA over the airwaves.[25]
On August 9, 2007, GOA supported Senator Vitter’s work in pushing through a bill stating that no U.S. funds can be used by the United Nations or any group affiliated with the United Nations to restrict or tax Second Amendment rights. If they attempt to do so, the U.S. can rightfully pull out all of their funds from the organization. This bill, HR-2764, also known as the Consolidated Appropriations Act, passed by an 81-10 vote.[26]
On February 25, 2008, Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) amended bill S-1200, the Indian Health Care Improvement Act. In the act, the wording stated that the funds were to be used for “violence prevention.” Once the funds were attempted to be used for gun buybacks and other such anti-gun policies, Senator DeMint pushed through an amendment to the act stating that the money cannot be used for any anti-gun programs. The bill passed by a margin of 78-11.[27]

The consigliere on the right is Red Ken Salazar.
What a rope a dope photo.
Obviously these three communist nationalist socialist bozos, whose suits cost exceeds monthly income for most gun owners and American patriots, have never met nor have any idea about the passion for R2KBA held by the self-named Gulf Coast Rednecks group of fishing guides, who took my kids out fishing last week in Corpus Christi Bay. Not a clue.
This reminds me of the British marching on Boston before they got their asses handed to them at Bunker Hill.
I asked what the GOA accomplished individually/alone. Those aren't victories in which only the GOA was involved.
Paul was the only 2008 Presidential candidate to receive an A+ grade from Gun Owners of America.
Neither rating seemed to help him, did it. That open border/free trade libertarianism was a killer. http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Ron_Paul_Gun_Control.htm
Paul scores A by NRA on pro-gun rights policies. The following ratings are based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionaire sent to all Congressional candidates; the NRA assigned a letter grade (with A+ being the highest and F being the lowest).
Here in Massachusetts, I can’t sell a gun to my neighbor without both of us going to a local gun dealership to file the required paperwork.
Of course, we also need a “Firearms ID” to purchase or own long guns and shotguns (and to buy ammo) and a “License to Carry” to buy or possess handguns, though the LTC covers long guns, too.
I can’t point to any at the moment but I’d rather be a GOA member than an NRA member.
Try this one.
