Statement From the National Rifle Association of America Regarding Today's White House Task Force Meeting
Fairfax, Va. The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be prejudged, this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.
-NRA-
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. Four million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services. Be sure to follow the NRA on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NationalRifleAssociation and on Twitter @NRA.
If they even started training in resisting home invasions ....
So where are the typical NRA haters on this site? I’m curious as to how they can bash the NRA on this cause..........
Then you are attributing to that buffoon and his lackeys intelligence that they do not possess.
Before you charge ahead with that you better check your 6 to see how much company you have. I don’t think many of the sheeple will be with you. If I were a jack-booted thug I’d be feeling pretty safe right now.
Kind of strange that they others have said little to nothing about what occurred at the meeting.
It's good to see that the NRA appears to be standing strong against this coordinated onslaught.
I plan to purchase 5 year memberships for myself and my wife in January 19th: Gun Appreciation Day.
I learned this statistic during a local gun club orientation and basic skills class last week. I plan to join the club and the NRA with my next paycheck. I look forward to the association with the club members and learning how to handle various firearms.
I don’t think most people think in terms of advocacy or strength through association. Thus, they don’t even consider benefits of NRA membership. They don’t/won’t realize impact of legislation or NRA’s impact on legislation until they try to purchase ammo or guns.
Although formerly not a gun owner, I did belong off and on to the NRA. I understood/understand the benefits of association and advocacy and have always believed in preserving 2nd amen rights. I’m glad to take this stand, expect to use my marketing/communications skills to help the club inform/educate the public, but I also “know” it’ll put a big target on my name with Obama and his ilk
The difference (that seems to get overlooked a lot) is that most of the SA and early SS troops were veterans of World War I, that had formed into groups such as the Freikorps and battled Communist groups in the streets during the post-Armistice collapse of governmental authority in Germany. In essence, they came pre-trained (and often pre-armed), and they were already strongly motivated—they wanted a return to the orderly, authoritative society they were used to.
Gang members and their ilk would be all but worthless in a similar circumstance. For starters, how many would start turning their arms on their former rivals the first chance they had?
Seems to me a rich and peaceful environment for gun owners to be more than passive victims.
Have you noticed how quiet the Republicans have been? It’s the old adage:
“When your enemy is killing himself, stay out of the way.”
Can someone translate this for me?
But this brain damaged old coot, Biden, was put in charge of this commission to make sure nothing would be done about criminals, Chicago, Obama or mentally deranged or injured people.
I don’t recall any NRA haters here ~ only criticism is the NRA has tended to be too cozy with the fascist pig faction in Congress (the Democrats) but that’s hardly hate.

Then you haven't been too observant.............
Tell you what, when I finish with supper, I'll ping you to some of their comments.........

Maybe the NRA should go see their buddy Harry Reid. After all, they supported him. Let’s see how well that pays dividends.
I can fully agree with that!
Like I said “hater” is a bit strong ~ makes it sound like you are saying someone on here doesn’t respect the Second Amendment. Be mighty hard to find anyone like that. Sure you don’t mean the Washington Post?
“Would 4 million more members make a difference? How about 40 million? How would it be any different?”
Answer: Sure would! This battle will be fought with money, not guns.
