Interesting thing I’ve seen comments on over the years. Call U-Haul and price a truck rental if you want to know if people are coming or going from a state. I bet you could rent one dirt cheap for a move *to* Illinois. All their inventory is leaving Illinois.

No kidding! I’ll bet that there is an “up charge” for outbound U-Hauls from IL to help pay for all the deadheading units having to be returned for a new load.

Not surprised to see NJ at the top as well; the taxes here are from the “before-times” (when we had decent jobs and a middle class, which have been replaced by municipal employees as our middle class). Gov. Christie’s property tax cap is helping, but there are simply too many better states in which to do business.

I’ve been saying for years that NJ will end up being illegal aliens, the permanent welfare class, and the government workers required to “provide services” (though thousands of them have been let go in the last few years due to the aforementioned property tax cap). The problem with that model, as evidenced by southern CA and Detroit, is that those demographics don’t contribute anything at all to a tax base, and the potential costs to companies and taxpayers to continue feeding, housing, clothing, and schooling them are quite a deterrent.

, 60.5% of their business comes from individuals and businesses leaving Illinois.

You have to think about that, 60% from leaveing ONE state.
