I agree with the sentiment but very few people have the wherewithal to possess a CCW and follow-up on it.

I disagree.

Let’s face it: most people aren’t comfortable with guns and even less so with having them on their their person.

Not in my experience.

I still can’t get her to the gun range, much less CCW classes.

I guess I am lucky. My wife has conceal carried for years and bought a Marlin 45.70 lever gun because "it is pretty."

I grew up in the Los Angeles Suburbs and that was my experience.

I have not felt the same (in terms of owning weapons) and hope most people agree with you.
