lays his grandfather's ashes to rest on Iwo Jima's Invasion Beach in Iwo Jima, Japan, Aug. 28, 2012. His grandfather, Petty Officer 2nd Class Oscar Thomasson, survived the battle even though his landing craft was destroyed en route to the island.

Thank you for your service Petty Officer 2nd Class Oscar Thomasson & to your Grandson for paying you tribute.
