Pushing back against calls for greater gun control from some members in Congress, conservative groups have now launched a Chick-fil-A style 'Gun Appreciation Day' set to take place on January 19, 2013.
According to US News and World Report:
"If all goes according to plan, gun lovers will come out in droves on January 19 to support gun stores, gun ranges, and gun shows."
"The national "Gun Appreciation Day," which is being launched by a coalition of conservative and gun rights groups, will take place a day before California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is expected to introduce legislation for an assault weapon ban," according to the Report.
"We felt that there needed to be a swift, strong statement, Chick-fil-A style, to show that we're not only here but we're vocal," Gun Appreciation Day chairman and president of Republican new media consulting firm Political Media, Inc., Larry Ward tells the Report.
On Aug. 1 of last year, Chick-fil-A enjoyed a record-setting day as customers flocked to the national chain to show their support for the pro-traditional marriage statements made by the company's president.
Will gun retailers experience the same record-setting volume on Jan. 19?

Anyone going to be able to go to this event?
Ok, for some reason I thought this was going to be in DC. Of course you can go (anyone) who has a gun store in their area can and should participate.
The problem is they have nothing left to sell, the shelves are bare...
Bill of Rights Day is the 15th of December, but that may be too long to wait.
January 19th may be too soon to get any media coverage.
Ping!
When is Tax-Free Weekend for the purchase of guns coming up in SC?
Anyone know?
Have fun!

Every day is gun appreciation day.
Gun Appreciation Day already happened, except it was Gun Appreciation Month — the gun stores and online stores were mobbed after the Lanza temper-tantrum. Now, they are out of ammo and guns until they get re-stocked.
I can't even find any Mosin Nagants. ;_; But just to show solidarity I might by a box of 9.64x67.5R Vulgarian or whatever the local shop has left...
If you are going to be somewhere at which location merely possessing a firearm would land you in the clink, may I humbly suggest open wearing of empty holsters, filled with copies of the Constitution?
So I'll bring coffee and donuts!
Stock up on whatever you can get your mitts on. What you can’t use you can alway trade down the line. If nothing happens it will be a collectors item.
In all seriousness, I may pick up something small I’ve had my eye on for a while. Or do a parts buy. Just in case.
This should be a Federal holiday.
Will the Feds be there snapping photos? We bitter clingers are all potential terrorists, you know. /s
Doesn’t matter.
Buy a holster. Buy a scope. Buy a picatinny rail. Buy a cleaning kit.
Just go in and buy something, and show them our support.
Millions of gunnies all across this country are waking up finally.
