The current state of the GOP brings to mind the surviving Marines in Aliens, with no shortage of demoralized hacks lamenting their inability to resist by channeling Private Hudson: Maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events but we just got our a**** kicked, pal!
So what? So we took a hit on the Fiscal Cliff. Stand up, brush off and get back into the fight. This is no time for self-pity, no time for weakness. Every combat leader knows that when you take a hit, you regroup, reorganize, and prepare to counterattack. The defense is but a temporary, transitory period that serves just one single purpose to prepare your forces to resume the offensive.
We dont need wimpy handwringers trying to excuse Republican fecklessness by repeating stupid clichés like Elections have consequences. Maybe I missed something, but everyone in this new Congress won the last election and the House kept its majority. If President 50.6% has a mandate, so does every single GOP member. And that mandate wasnt to tuck-up into the fetal position and sob.
Heres another consequence that the election had now that the tax cuts have expired, Obama cant do anything unless we say Yes. From here on in, if he wins its because we let him win. So dont.
This guy has a glass jaw. He had tax increases by default on everyone, yet he had to walk away with a $450,000 ceiling instead of the $250,000 definition of millionaire hed been selling to the low-information types who make up his base. Oh, and this week these same slack-jaws opened up their pay envelopes and found out that The One failed to get the payroll tax cut extended. Moreover, the AMT is fixed and the estate tax is improved somewhat. The GOP may have lost, but contrary to the cheerleading by the government-controlled mainstream media, so did progressive President Pyrrhus.
Obama has the initiative today, but hand this guy a couple defeats and hell go right back to ground hoping 2014 will bring him a liberal majority again.
The GOP needs to clearly understand its objective, because right now they are acting as if this is politics as usual, just with a particularly liberal president. Wrong. Obama is a dedicated progressive ideologue who wants to permanently change this country for the worse and he intends to clear his path to doing so by ruthlessly destroying all opposition. That means you, GOPers.
He isnt playing a game; hes fighting a war, and it better dawn on the GOP that Obama doesnt want to just shift the needle a bit. He wants us defeated, disarmed and docile so he can turn us into the progressive, extra-Constitutional Utopia his faculty-lounge buddies have been fantasizing about for the last century.
Obama and his minions are serious about defeating us, so we need to be serious about defeating them. Lets banish cheesy talk about Working together for the good of the country. The only thing that is good for this country right now is defeating Obamas leftist agenda, fully, completely and in detail. You cant work with him, you cant compromise with him, you cant convince him. Hes a progressive Terminator and the Constitution is Sarah Connor.
You have to beat him, and that means counterattacking to seize the initiative by getting on the scoreboard with some wins and restoring our teams morale.
Obamas getting cocky this guy always believes his own hype and his prissy press cheerleaders arent doing him any favors telling him hes mastered the opposition. Unless we let him, hes mastered nothing. In his overconfidence hes over-extending himself, and that means opportunities.
It looks like hes going to nominate Chuck Hagel for SecDef. Even Chuck Schumer is having trouble swallowing that. Republicans, time to get out the long knives and get to work and make sure you let the world know that besides Hagels terrible policies youre doing it on behalf of the Jews and gays he detests. Filibuster him if you need to if Harry Reid wants to eliminate the filibuster he can do it on behalf of an anti-Semitic homophobe who thinks were too mean to Hamas.
Obama loses even if he wins, squandering capital and forcing his Democrat pals into terrible votes theyll be hearing about at re-election time. And GOP senators, we dont need to hear about deference toward one of your own. Hagel sold out the GOP when he supported Obama. Nor do we need to hear any sanctimonious crap about deference to the president in nominations if you still think this is business as usual, youre either a fool or in a coma.
Obama is now talking about taxing the successful even more by eliminating deductions. Hand him another big goose egg. He got his tax increases you need to be out of the revenue increase business. How about the House pass a payroll tax cut, paid for by slashing corporate welfare to Obamas Hollywood buddies and his green energy scam cronies?
Spending cuts? Obama doesnt get a say. Sequestration is going to happen unless the GOP agrees to change it. Thats a $1.2 trillion cut. Let it happen, and let Secretary Hagel deal with the defense cuts. Obama loses again unless you save him.
And guns talk about a golden opportunity to defeat Obama while also helping set the stage for a Democrat wipe-out in 2014! Obama and his progressive pals are giddy with the idea that Newtown will let them jam through a whole slew of Second Amendment-trashing measures before everyone starts thinking again. If Obamas actually foolish enough to proceed and I am not sure he is hes setting himself up for a huge loss.
GOP, remember Napoleons admonition to never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. Let Obama try and force the red state Democrat senators to come out against guns. Let the Democrats tear themselves up while we watch and gobble popcorn.
Heck, we should egg them on like by trying to force a Senate vote on, say, a provision which reaffirms the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for the protection of their families and communities and directs that all federal law shall be interpreted toward preserving and protecting that right. Lets see how all those Democrats paying lip service to the Second Amendment feel about voting on that.
And if some bill finally limps out of the Senate, hopefully without a single GOP vote, Speaker Boehner should mimic Harry Reids fiscal cliff antics and just let it die. No debate. No discussion. No vote. Obamas dream of disarming his opponents, paid for with the careers of several sitting Democrat senators, will die in the hopper.
It will be a thing of beauty.
Remember, this is an existential crisis for our country. Now is not the time to govern; its the time to defeat Obama and his radical left-wing agenda. No, you cant say that out loud simpering wimps will shudder and fret. Just do it, even as you talk about working together and compromising and hugging and all that goo-goo baloney.
Republican, quit shouting, Game over, man! Game over! Counterattack, seize the initiative, and start winning again. Play for keeps. Stop channeling Hudson and start channeling Ripley. Its time to figuratively nuke the site from orbit its the only way to be sure.
You stated that very well.
Of course it is time for the GOP to attack, but we all know that in reality we have no party here. We have a GOP filled with Democrats in RINO clothing.
When the time comes for he sequester and debt limit they will fold up, they will take whatever Obama wish’s to give them.
Oh! Thy will huff and puff a little ,but forget anything like a real fight.
Or as Joe Stillwell put it after being forced to evacuate Burma in WWII: “I claim we got a hell of a beating. We got run out of Burma and it is humiliating as hell. I think we ought to find out what caused it, go back and retake it.”
Which we did.
Thanks, the circular firing squad and whining is old.
This weekend one cable station did a doc on Jim Jones narrated by his son.
Recalled the Senator assuring Jones that he only lost 4 (I think the final number was 7) out of 400 members at Jonestown, meaning only 7 initially asked to leave with the Senator, that it was no big deal and he should calm down.
Jim Jones decided it was over due to that and passed out the poison Koolaid and gave them all orders to kill themselves, just after he ordered the Senator's party and the 7 shot and killed.
I get the impression many now believe it's over (fight with O) and its time to go out with a bang.
not sure they will bring more than a feather.
“I get the impression many now believe it’s over (fight with O) and its time to go out with a bang.”
Outside of Nixon and Lee Atwater, what “Republicans” have fought? I guess Lincoln.
The problem is a systemic one that’s manifesting itself in spades.
No leadership, or feckless leadership = failure, pure and simple.
Maybe because at the Federal level, the GOP IS Boehner.
This whole last election was Boehner, as the top-GOP, keeping his position. Romney at the top of the ticket killed what should have been Tea Party gains in both houses.
Boehner’s no Conservative and certainly acts like he considers the Tea Party a bigger threat to him than the Democrats. So, now we have a supine House, with Boehner safely in charge, and the Democrats have no real opposition.
I thought I had read earlier that the House seats up in 2014 do not really threaten Republican control of the House, too. If that is true, then Boehner sees his position at the head of the trough unthreatened for at least four more years.
Stick a fork in the RINOcracy. It's done.
Doubt the GOP has the guts but will give them the benefit of the doubt once more. This will take a stand-up attitude by Boehner. Dismiss or Adjourn the House. Take a Stand on Spending Cuts. Our Nation is broke. Shut Down the Government. Stop the checks. Refuse to come back into session, in House, till cuts are on the table from democRATS. Force the RATS hand. If the public wants to raid the treasury, as it appears, make the public wait two years. Stand Up Republicans for once! If America is to be lost, fight for once like Statesmen and Stateswomen republicans. If this is too much to ask ... the request of Take a Stand and Fight Boehner, then bye to not only America but bye to republicans. Tired of fighting with words of warning to republicans, when republicans refuse to listen, so will simply say bye republicans. Last chance, and I know republicans will either do the right thing or the wrong thing. Am betting wrong thing, cause am finding it difficult to find anyone in D.C. who gives a happy about America. The majority want to destroy America. So republicans, what is it going to be? Defeat for the Constitution or a Standing Up for the Constitution?
And no one in the House wants that Speaker job, So that is a stain on them all in the House esp the ones causing trouble, in fact why is McConnell still Minority leader ?
A couple of days ago I heard Levin calling out the ‘heroes who opposed the Tax Relief Act(aka Cliff Bill),‘ he said they would go down in history as heroes(didnt that bill pass into law?).
So he lists a few who verbally said they opposed it, but not one of them was in the House or even elected to the House next session at the time. None of them were relevent to that fight.
This is like saying the American heroes at the battle of Kasserine Pass ( the US Army got slaughtered by the Germans ) were a list of Marines who were in the Pacific at the time.
“This is like saying the American heroes at the battle of Kasserine Pass ( the US Army got slaughtered by the Germans ) were a list of Marines who were in the Pacific at the time.”
Fantastic analogy!!!
So do we nuke them from orbit? It’s the only way to be sure.
:) I can do even better.
Bohner is like Von Paulus who was ordered to take Staingrad after Hitler decided to invade too late, and after losing half his troops with the other half facing a certain defeat and death he decides to surrender peacefully to save their lives.
Hitler calls him a coward from his safe warm Bunker, hmmm. ‘'Deep inside his Underground Bunker’
I think we can defeat Obamacare if we go about it the right way.
If you look at it from the standpoint of a Democratic Senator, it’s a pending train wreck. Their constituents, even those who just voted for Obama, are just now finding out that they have to go buy a policy, or pay a fine.
The Supreme Court decision that validated the mandate, also invalidated the part of the law that would have enabled the Feds to coerce the states into setting up exchanges. Some thirty states are refusing to do so, and Obama can’t withhold their medicaid funding. The feds now have to set up a national exchange, and the law provided no funding for this.
And we have the House.
No fed exchange means there is no mechanism by which to subsidize the poor to buy policies. This is the achilles’ heel of the whole law, because insurance companies would have needed a broader premium pool in order to put downward pressure on prices.
So, we already have exploding premium increases, and no way to broaden the base. We’re already seeing workers’ hours cut, as a result of Obamacare, and we’re already seeing layoffs. We are beginning to experience a shortage of doctors, who are refusing to see patients under the reduced payments called for in the law. There should be no shortage of lobbying monies, from insurance companies, and from the medical community, going to Republicans to get this thing out of the way once and for all.
Statistically, the only people who have ever wanted Obamacare are those with no insurance, and pre-existing conditions. And THEY already have care, mandated to be cared for in emergency rooms.
Then there are the Catholics who are rightly up in arms about the mandated abortifacients and contraceptives.
So it’s a perfect storm.
Would you want to be a Dem Senator holding a townhall in your jurisdiction in 2014?
The votes are THERE, in the Senate, to kill this thing once and for all, in my view.
Obamacare is a train wreck for the Democratic Party, and we should do everything we can to derail them.
This guy is good....
***
I could follow his argument a lot better if he would use actual historical events for comparison instead of fatuous references to movies that I have never seen and never intend to see.
We should filibuster Hagel for being homophobic? Huh?

Its not uncommon for rthose out of power---especially in the minority community----to believe that the Establishment (Republicans/conservatives/patriots) uses its power to slander and destroy those who threaten the "status quo"......Snide remarks about the invisible and permanent powers-that-be (Republicans) trying to take down minorities...... is a sentiment some bandy about when they try to justify (what they deem) is their loser status.
THIS KIND OF PERVERSE CORRUPT THINKING IS REMINSCENT OF THE POST-CIVIL WAR ERA----Carpetbaggers---Northern invaders into the South ----were prominent in politics until 1875, but nearly all left under pressure from the Red Shirts and White Liners -----white paramilitary organizations, then-described as "the military arm of the Democratic Party", working openly to violently overthrow Republican rule, using intimidation and assassination to turn Republicans out of office and suppress freedmen's (former slaves) voting.
The Republican sheriff of Yazoo, Mississippi, received a brief flurry of national attention when insurgent white Democrats took over the county government and forced him to flee. (WIKI)

FREEPER ACTION MEMO In 1875, Hiram Revels, a Mississippi Republican--and the first African-American US Senator-- wrote to then-Pres Ulysses S. Grant denouncing Northern invaders into the post-Civil War south for manipulating the Black vote for personal benefit, and for keeping alive wartime hatreds. (WIKI)
We need to get someone with integrity----like Cong Allen West (not reelected)----- to write letters to his colleagues, and to the media.
Cong West needs to do the following:
(1) decry the agitation and intimidation tactics being used by these groups,
(2) expose using hatemongering for personal gain,
(3) emphasize the illegalities WRT threatening members of the US Congress,
(4) precpitate investigations into fraud and intimidation upon our electoral/legislative system by these hate-mongering groups, and,
(5) determine the scope and dimension of subversion these activities are visiting on US ntl security.
The GOP will not save you. You will be the only one to save you.
Mmmmmmm.........that sounds an awful lot like the "People's Temple." Rev Jim Jones promised a "better life, hope and change.....and diversity." Tolerant and compassionate Rev Jim Jones brought lotsa Kool-aid (and cases" of cyanide) for the diverse crowd that blindly followed him to a place from which there was no escape.

THE OBAMA WRAP ---These people are even scarier in triumph, when they've clearly mocked democracy and stolen the election. America has witnessed the consequences of a generation inculcated with moral relativity and situation ethics. The ghost of Saul Alinsky lurks behind M/M Obama, Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Anita "Mao" Dunn, Valerie whatsherface, and the rest of the Ohaha ilk.
They clearly see themselves as "deconstructionists"----savagely committed to tearing down America's traditions. Every manaical official govt act is dedicated to chipping away at the bulwark of American freedoms. \
The Obamanations are a virulent anti-American plague of religion haters.......vacant, surly Me-First humanoids who worship at The Church of Whatever Works For Me. Cadres of self-absorbed punks squatting in govt are clearly disturbed--- obsessed with religious cleansing and kicking so/con Repubs to the curb.
The Ohaha savages duped the citizenry, led us over a multi-trillion dollar deficit cliff, into massive corrupt bailouts, and atrocities like amnesty.
Their motto: "Everything For Us--Nothing For You."
That same generation inculcated with moral relativity and situation ethics has segued into The Entitlement Generation---better known as "Pay Me--I'm a Victim.
We need to remember that the Obamanoids are ruthless predators w/ no empathy for others and no remorse; anti-social psychopaths who recognize no moral boundaries--aggressively going after what they want, irregardless of the consequences to others.
Paraphrasing Saul Alinsky----the author of evil anti-religious satanism......"they do not have a fixed truth -- truth to them is relative and changing..... they are free from the shackles of dogma."
