The White House Is Planning A Major Push On Guns, And One Democratic Senator Is Already Calling It 'Extreme'

The White House's task force led by Vice President Joe Biden is considering expansive proposals to tackle the nation's gun violence, something that is already drawing early condemnation from even Democratic lawmakers.
The Washington Post reported Sunday that the group headed by Biden is preparing to go far beyond a simple reinstatement of the expired assault weapons ban:
A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.
But on Sunday, newly sworn-in Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat from North Dakota, called the reported proposals "way in the extreme" and cautioned that they would not pass if brought together in a comprehensive bill.
"Well, I think you need to put everything on the table," Heitkamp said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."
"But what I hear from the administration and if The Washington Post is to be believed that's way, way in extreme of what I think is necessary or even should be talked about. And it's not going to pass."
It's an especially strong rebuke from the Democrat Heitkamp, who comes from a red-leaning state and earned an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association. The Post reported that the White House plans to bypass trying to earn support for the measure from the NRA, instead turning to businesses like Wal-Mart for support.
On "This Week," Heitkamp said that there should be

Why is Heidi Heitkamp a Democrat?
So she can vote for higher taxes, more spending and the expansion of the welfare state in every possible way.
Pretty sure this would spark civil disobedience to a degree that it would set him back on his heels.
In fact, all said and done...he might just get his butt thrown out of office.
The 1000 ft gun free zone was ruled unconstitutional because there was no reasonable connection to interstate commerce.
“They have us surrounded. The poor bastards!” ~ 101st Airborne Trooper at Bastogne, Belgium 1944.
Yea, all this playing world beat cop could come back to bite us.
Do have to say, if the U.N. is used to help in any action on our soil, hope they don't wear those stupid blue helmets.
Wait....second thought, yes, yes I do.
1. Never humanize your enemy
2. Kill your enemy until he stops killing you
3. There are no rules in war
You are wrong. I am a big supporter of the right to bear arms, but also realize the reality of our situation. This country is moderately liberal would support Obama if it came to banning assault weapons. Other than Israel and maybe Britain, the rest of the world hates us, and by us I mean conservative Americans. They see us as backwards, racist, and warmongers because that is what the world media tells them and they are jealous of our prosperity and freedoms, all of which makes them love Obama and the Dems. If there is ever a revolt here, they will back the left in this country through the UN and private contractors at the very least.
Look on the bright side.
One entire congressional session can be consumed on the gun issue and it will go nowhere...
Not to mention the Black Panthers, gangs, and some in the police and military. Things are not nearly as rosy as the “revolutionaries” make it out to be.
Before there’s a word about gun control, let’s have Obama and Holder testify in the open, before Congress, about Fast & Furious.
Then we’ll defeat their stupid laws.
“This is going to end badly for the gun grabbers.”
We really have to make sure we keep 2A at all costs. A 1960s Yale psych study (Stanley Milgram) revealed that over 60% of individuals recruited for the study were willing to use the highest shock level on subjects (actors) when told to do so by those conducting the experiment. This study was in response to the atrocities committed by Nazi prison guards in the death camps. Originally the investigators postulated that only a few percent would give the maximum shock, but not so. This proves that almost anyone is capable of carrying out an evil order when given by a person of authority.
So, better to fight the gun grabbers now when we have the means to do so.

The bills can be copied from there. There are links to other sites with roll call votes, too. Look for the bills beginning January 22nd. Takes a little time to look around the site and learn to find things.
A bull in a china shop may know nothing about fine dinnerware, but the aftermath is still hideous to deal with.

Translation: I just got elected in a conservative state by pretending to be moderate/rational/sorta conservative, and I don’t want to drop the facade just yet.
A slug going into the head of the first Hessian getting off the plane or boat would be a pretty entertaining message.
I agree, we should burn up the phones to our congressmen and senators. But, what if you live in a libtard state such as NJ? I have two rat senators, lousenberg and menandez, is it worth my time contacting them, am I going to convince these two marxists to support the 2nd Amendment? I doubt it. I did write to my congressman, Scott Garrett, but, he already has an A rating from the NRA.
She would have need been elected if not for the tribal vote in ND. She won by something like only 8,000 votes.
The Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990 was struck down in 1995 by the US Supreme Court ruling on US v. Lopez on the grounds that congress had overstepped its authority under the commerce clause of the constitution.
Sorry, cant get to that till the budget/debt limit is resolved. too bad. By then....
