You guys think criminals are going to rob houses of owners they KNOW are armed? Yep. If I were much younger and criminally inclined, I'd watch the gun owners' homes during the day and, while the occupants are all at work, rob them for the guns. Then I could spend my nights using those guns to rob the homes of the non-gun owners. I doubt if you are a gun owner, especially a hand gun owner. Most hand gun owners I know, all rational, honest people, have their gun close to them at all times. They have bought them because of crime and for protection.

You forgot to mention the 100+ lb gun safe.

But, ah, Mr. Fossil. I am a gun owner (.357 magnum). Bought it for home protection after being robbed. But I’m in California and the authorities here take a very dim view of any civilian carrying. So it stays locked up at home when I go out.
