On New Year’s Day, several on-duty plain clothes officers were dining at a Belleville, Ill. Denny’s, when a customer complained to the manager that one of the officers was carrying a gun. The Denny’s manager told the officer she would have to leave or put the gun in her car, as guns are not allowed on their premises.

“It’s absolutely a slap in the face I totally agree it’s completely disrespectful,” Belleville Police Captain Don sax said in a KTVI Fox2 report. “I’ve never known anybody that didn’t want a police officer present in an establishment in a business...

When I was in the city, ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! the cops were gun control homos. That line about it only being the brass never rang true to me.

I will definitely admit, however, that ever since leaving the city, ALL the cop encounters I’ve had have been GREAT! Still, it only takes a few times being bullied by dumb, fat, non-shooting punks unfit to shine my shoes to leave an eternally bad taste in my mouth.

“Gangster-speak is becoming the primary mode of communication in American today. Go to the Facebook page of almost anyone under 30. Odds are good that you’ll see a lot of it.”

I’m 22 and I don’t speak like that nor do any of my friends. Of course, I’m pretty picky about my friends.

I was an LEO for many years and never once had a doughnut and all the guys I worked with were very adamant about average citizens having guns. You mistake the crap at the top assuming they speak for the line officers. Similar to being an 0311 and hating your ROE. Semper Fi.

You’d better get your Illinois regions straight. That’s southern Illinois they’re talking about, not Chicago. There are conservatives in this state, doncha know?

Try carrying a firearm in Chicago and see how the rank and file police officers treat you.

What city was that? Sounds like a city I’d want to avoid.

Funny. I’ve never seen a legally mandated no gun sign in any Denny’s around here.

Oh well.....

This is an area where there seems to be two different feelings on FR. I personally feel that about half the police would be criminals if there was not some other outlet for them to legally carry weapons and intimidate the public. The other half are basically decent people, but in most cases not deserving of any special respect.

I primarily see police as an intimidation and revenue collector arm of out of control government.

Legally mandated how? Like, if it isn’t posted they aren’t allowed to kick you out for it? But apparently in this case it was specifically about another customer being bothered. Maybe they made that up, but I’d think the restaurant would retain the power to act on behalf of customers’ feelings, right or wrong, despite laws mandating no guns allowed signs.

You can Google up the BLS data for yourself. Being a cop isnt even in the top ten. I’m so tired of that “life on the line everyday” BS I want to wretch every time I hear it. It’s a lie.

Cops are in more danger driving to and from work than they are on the job. The only work related injury my town (pop: 25,000, suburb or Chicago) has had in the last ten years was some idiot who managed to shoot himself with his duty weapon while “cleaning” it, allegedly.

So spare me the “my job is soooo dangerous” crap. It is not true.

"people don't like cops"

Why do you say that? I have cop friends. They're the best guys in the world.
