Talk about a reality check: CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer told tea party Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Thursday that he has to "deal with reality" in the Senate and "can't be overly idealistic."
In one of his first interviews since being sworn into Congress earlier in the day, Cruz told CNN that he would not have voted in favor of the fiscal cliff compromise, calling it a "lousy deal."
"Look, it wasn't a perfect deal. Nobody was thrilled by it, but you got a deal with what's doable in a divided Congress like we have," Blitzer told him.
The only reason this lousy deal happened is because President Obama and Harry Reid wanted to raise taxes on Americans," Cruz responded. "I think that's going to hurt growth and it's going to hurt the middle class and working class--
Interrupting, Wolf said: But, remember, the president was reelected. Harry Reid is the majority leader -- you're in minority in the United States Senate. You got to deal with reality. You can't just be -- you can't just be overly idealistic.
Cruz fired back saying that House Republicans also had an electoral mandate because they hung onto a majority in the House.
"But let me say two things," Cruz said, "number one, the same voters that reelected the president reelected a Republican majority in the House-"
Blitzer cut in: "But not in the Senate. And not in the White House. You got a divided government. You've got to make concessions, you've got to compromise. If you're just going to come into Washington and say, Do it my way or the highway, you're not going to get anywhere."
Cruz ended the exchange by predicting that the looming debt ceiling debate would be equally controversial.
"It's the mirror image," Cruz said.

“Tom Coburn, Jim Inhofe.”
Inhofe has always done a few things that made me do a double-take. But Coburn - breaks my heart beyond my ability to describe. The first couple of years Coburn was on the national scene, my only question was please, please, please when can I vote for him for President.
It only reinforces my belief that we need to move the capital to someplace like Omaha, and nuke Washington. It is a pesthole beyond saving!
Words you will never hear Blitzder say to Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi (talking about House votes).
A most excellent point.
...Unless you're Obama, right Wolfie? Frikkin' transparent hypocrite media lapdog.
