Talk about a reality check: CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer told tea party Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Thursday that he has to "deal with reality" in the Senate and "can't be overly idealistic."
In one of his first interviews since being sworn into Congress earlier in the day, Cruz told CNN that he would not have voted in favor of the fiscal cliff compromise, calling it a "lousy deal."
"Look, it wasn't a perfect deal. Nobody was thrilled by it, but you got a deal with what's doable in a divided Congress like we have," Blitzer told him.
The only reason this lousy deal happened is because President Obama and Harry Reid wanted to raise taxes on Americans," Cruz responded. "I think that's going to hurt growth and it's going to hurt the middle class and working class--
Interrupting, Wolf said: But, remember, the president was reelected. Harry Reid is the majority leader -- you're in minority in the United States Senate. You got to deal with reality. You can't just be -- you can't just be overly idealistic.
Cruz fired back saying that House Republicans also had an electoral mandate because they hung onto a majority in the House.
"But let me say two things," Cruz said, "number one, the same voters that reelected the president reelected a Republican majority in the House-"
Blitzer cut in: "But not in the Senate. And not in the White House. You got a divided government. You've got to make concessions, you've got to compromise. If you're just going to come into Washington and say, Do it my way or the highway, you're not going to get anywhere."
Cruz ended the exchange by predicting that the looming debt ceiling debate would be equally controversial.
"It's the mirror image," Cruz said.

No new democrat senator has ever been questioned or told to deal with reality when they were in the minority.
Bullseye!
Why do GOPr’s continue to appear on overtly liberal networks? What do they expect?
Why do conservatives keep doing interviews with these media slimes who will interrupt, make up more lies, change the subject, or go to a commercial as soon as they sense they are being exposed for the fifth-column lying scum they are?
For the 86th millionth time, what is any GOP moron doing on ANY of these stations????????????? God these morons are clueless! If you’re that stupid you shouldn’t have been elected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Idiot!
Cruz gets Blitzed (By the Wolf)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK I read the article. Where is the part where Cruz got Blitzed. I missed it.
But I DID see Blitzer getting schooled on “reality”. And that reality is that taxes are going up because of Obama and Reid.
Wolf told Cruz to compromise because he’s a minority.
That’s racist! He must hate all Latino’s!!
Just seeing what it feels like to be a lib;)
I have met Cruz during a gathering during primary.
He will not bend.
I told my other US Senator Cornyn that I will aciively seek out alternatives to him as he has prostituted his principles as a conservative when he voted to raise taxes on the majority of Americans.
“I have met Cruz during a gathering during primary.
He will not bend.”
I have met him as well. And I have posted here several times: we have traded a worthless Rino for a new Senator with a spine and ‘attachments.’ We’ll see how long he can hang on to them in that cesspool. I am convinced we could send a diamond to Washington, and within a number of years they will polish it into a turd. There’s lot of current examples.
One of the top priorities for conservatives should be to marginalize the Drive-bys. Quit going on there shows.
I have always wondered why these news readers think that they have all of the answers.
Tom Coburn, Jim Inhofe.
Funny, I saw nothing remotely resembling compromise back from the Dems regarding spending cuts. Compromise to liberals means capitulating to their demands.
CRUZ: I'm happy to work with him if he's actually being productive solving our problems. I think jacking up taxes and increasing spending hurts growth, costs jobs, makes the lives of the American people worse.
CRUZ: Now who's saying 'do it my way or the highway'? Look, Wolf, this President campaigned saying he supported spending cuts and his deal had zero in spending cuts and $330 billion in new spending. The person who's saying "do it my way or the highway" is the President.
I predict Cruz will be one the MSM don't invite very often.
Exactly. We could give them 95% of what they want while getting only 5% of what we want and they would STILL claim that "Republicans refuse to compromise."
Wolf Blitzer has no standing to speak on any subject.
Right on. Right on. It's probably some obscure law that the CONgress has that makes the other (stupid)faction of the corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" go out & make fools of themselves.
Why do republicans even do these interviews with the msmwhores?
