Washington D.C. - The nations largest Tea Party group announced today the creation of its new advocacy arm the first of its kind. With over 600,000 members and over 1.3 million supporters on Facebook, TheTeaParty.Net has been a leading opponent of any legislation that increases taxes or raises the debt, including this weeks deal on the fiscal cliff.

You have done some good work there. I am always suspicious of lobby firms. Like gov’t they need to raise more money to survive. It’s also like the green org.s such as Sierra Club that only spend a few pennies of every dollar and actually doing something productive.
There seems to be a lot of “Tea Party” groups raising money for all sorts of things all of the sudden. Does anyone know who the real Tea Party is?
More and more sites are calling this group fake.

He is also being investigated by the IRS for running a fake non-profit.

There are also several articles by leftist sites right before the election (I can’t post links here but you can find them via Google) pointing out that Cefaratti’s sites were endorsing ‘none of the above’ for President and using it to divide the Tea Party against Romney. He was a tool for the left.
I blame a lot of this on the members screaming they want a leaderless movement. Without leadership, it is like a ship without a rudder, moving with whatever wind blows. Without centralized leadership, it allowed a lot of scammers and amateurs to pop up and take it all different directions.
Where (and who) is the real Tea Party? Does anyone know?
Tea Party Express is probably the most legitmate group that actually organizes real events. There are also a lot of local groups under the banner of the Tea Party Patriots and We The People organizations.
Niger Innis, National Outreach Director, TheTeaParty.net. A longtime conservative activist, Niger Innis is also the National Spokesman for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), one of the 'Big Four' civil rights groups in the United States.
Believe it or not, I found it on Amazon!
Syncro,
I missed that Niger Ennis is now a big wig at this group. I wonder if they have gone legit?
VERY disappointed is FR admins for leaving this thread up. TheTeaParty.net is a scam group well known to FReepers (see the comments above) that exists purely for fundraising, has nothing to do with actual Tea Party folks, and does nothing to advance the cause.
Syncro,
I’ve had a chance to dig some more in this. It looks like this new group has gone legit. A lot of big names in the grassroots movement are latched on to this.

Some that jump out are Jennifer Burke, Kevin Jackson and Scottie Hughes. They are well known and wouldn’t jump into any group that is bogus. I also think their IT guy, Rick Hill was one of the bodies behind The Tea Party Community which is the new social media site that is booming.

Not sure that’s what they mean when they say “leaderless”.
More than likely they want leaders who aren’t Washington insiders. Average Joe’s who step up - folks who haven’t been corrupted by Washington style politics.
Sadly, we’ve seen it doesn’t take long to get corrupt there...
Innis is very ligit (and I have followed his and his dad's org for years), as is Kevin Jackson.
I have met both of them.
Jackson has been along on some of the TPX tours and is an outstanding guy.
One of their people on the about website used to be with the TPX, but no longer is.
I don't know when that page was updated last.
They also have an employee that used to be with the TPX also, and spent most of her time there undermining those that she did not like. Including the top guy.
She is dangerous to any Tea Party group, and managed to waste a lot of donated money on herself---before she was ousted.
This group can do some good things, but I still part ways with them on how they use their money.
TheTeaParty.net only currently uses approximately 30% of contributions received on items that would be considered administrative. That includes staff compensation, office space, office supplies, etc. Approximately 70% of the donations are used to recruit thousands of people to the Tea Party movement...etc
The money used to recruit should be in administrative, which would bring down tremendously the amount spent on regular Tea Party stuff.
Still a skeptic...: > )
But I do hope that what with having some good people involved that they can be effective.
(Innis and Jackson need to watch the leadership closely.) As well as the low level narcissists parading as legit but out for themselves.
Like the Tea Party Patriots, what they have done best is having a data base of tea parties that started under their auspices.
Many of the TPP teapartys that formed have nothing to do with TTP anymore, for good reason.
I received a call just the other night from Tea Party Patriots.
The guy’s talking points were about how crucial this moment is to send money for the events and actions that will take place. I asked what was being planned currently and explained that we can’t afford a donation just now. He completely side stepped my questions and statement along with an offer of my non-monetary help. Just stating that any donation large or small would be helpful. I wished him a good night.
GOOD ON YOU, RedMDer.
Shysters are all around.
I see this a LOT with local RNC chapters, especially in my town. You get these older lady socialites who want to run everything and make it their own little social club. They usually have been with the chapter for years if not decades and everything goes to their own parties and events to be seen in whatever local society magazine they have. They end up in Tea Party groups because that is where the action is. I wonder if the Dems have this problem?
Jenny Beth Martin is the top dog there now, having purged Mark Meckler out.
One time in DC when some teaparty people were gathered for a small impromptu rally, J B Martin came up with a bull horn and tried to get them all to come to where she was having a rally.
Grabbing some real tea party people to take to their shearing barn.
She is vicious and only is interested in there being one Tea Party group, hers.
When the Tea Party Express started, the TPP badmouthed them and got lots of their chapters to diss the TPX also.
She gets them hook, line and sinker.
Or at least used to...
IMO, the Tea Party Express is the most effective Tea Party group out there.
Some of their people went to DC on the first of Jan to work the pols.
