Its official: Florida has passed the one million mark in issuing concealed carry gun permits the most of any other state.
In mid-December, Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam released a statement announcing the upcoming milestone and sharing information about the Florida Concealed Weapon and Firearm License Program.
In 1987, Florida issued its first statewide concealed weapon license after the Florida Legislature established standardized and uniform requirements for the issuance of a concealed weapon license, said Commissoner Putnam. Twenty-five years later,...

I’m not active so I don’t know about that. I do know that I can’t bring my firearms with me to work and go to the range on the way home, by order of some all the base commanders here. I’m lucky though, in that my wife works on the way to the range, so if I’m leaving early to go shoot, I just put them in her car in the morning and pick them up on the way to the range.
“8,000 CWP”
Well THAT is changing fast.
Lady that just did my home appraisal applied in Dec. and was told they had 3000 aps in Dec.
When I renewed in August, they were at 1900 for the year.
We’re both in Douglas Cty.
I was in GNC with a couple 20 something clerks talking about getting permits.
One other customer in the store happened to be an instructor at Front-Sight.
He did a great job of discouraging them from applying. Said, if he was in the store and it was being robbed, he wouldn’t pull his weapon. Told them why.
Now, I wasn’t buying any of this, but I thought it was good that he made thse macho wanna be’s think twice about the responsibility and the legal limitations of carrying.
Good to know. Last December 2010 was when we had to renew and the total count was about 7,800. Both of our permit numbers are below 300. :)
P.S. Sheriff Weaver said he had to process about 1,700 in 2010 plus the renewals.
Luckily I don’t think these kids think much about it. Sometimes I think the whole CCW thing should be rethought.

Florida is kind of a LIVE FREE OR DIE state despite being so ethnically mixed
Brevard is a good county. Palm Bay gun club is topnotch, one of my biggest regrets leaving there. I could shoot at my own pace daily.

Well, If you purchased arms via a dealer, your purchase is recorded.
Good luck, as you are unarmed in your daily walk due to fear of gov. Some cretin won’t care.
The more who are armed are the more likley for gov to fear (respect) us.

Yes, that’s true. Luckily some weren’t.
Not fear of govt, respect for COs directive.
I work on a base where weapons are not allowed. You’re a retired officer, would you want people, especially civilians on your base, disobeying your commands? What would you suggest?
I too, work on a military base where POWs are severly restricted.
Therefore, I do not carry to and from work, as I would be being simply stupid, but then again I am a former combat arms officer and enlisted guy who can still run quite fast, know my abilities in CQB etc and am at minor risk in between home and work (I think...). Pepper spray and otehr non-firearm weapons are on hand as they are not regulated (yet).
However, I do carry everywhere else and Momma knows if she does not inform me in advance, we are not driving on base for any reason. She has, in the past, dropped me off at the local gunshop and proeceed onto the installation, however. Win win, I suppose. (Now, to get her into the same mind set....).
Therefore, I recommend you carry whenever possible. You do not live on base per your comments so far, so what are you waiting for? How much risk are you willing to take becasue of one obstacle? Get your permit and protect yourself and those who depend on you for safety. Be smart.
I had one in Florida, thankfully I live in Virginia now, so there is always a loaded weapon in the console when I do not go to work and always in the wife’s car. If I really want to, I’ll just carry open. I really don’t go out enough to warrant getting another CC permit. It’s just one more data base I do not want to voluntarily subscribe to. I’m waiting for CC without a permit.
ownership must penetrate one for every citizen. (ones who are not insane or have been declared mentally incompetent to the point of being institutionalized/able)
Ever notice how the left is adamant about restoring the right to vote and serve on jurries but has a heart attack about restoring second amendment rights?
