Obama has not won anything until we see how the House responds. They may cave as everyone here expects, or they may do something more creative. Who knows. We'll see.

First thing they should do is take out the “expanded earned income tax credit, child tax credit and college tax credit — extended for five years”.

I didn’t know we had expanded earned income credits in 2009 — enough already.

Cut unemployment benefit extensions to 2 months. They can take it up again during the debt talks.

If they don’t cave they will be like suicide bombers. They will be blowing themselves up along with the economy. We will have taxes raised on everybody, the public will blame the GOP, there will be sequestration, and we will lose the house in 2016.

There is no better deal to be had. Obama has an iron will. We are lucky we got
what we did. We have no leverage on this. Flinging themselves against Obama won’t break him, it will break the house GOP. For now anyway.

We do have leverage on the debt ceiling. We have to rejoin the battle on that front. Plus as the subject moves to spending instead of taxes, the public who have polled that spending should be cut, will have more incentive to at least listen to our side.
