What to expect in 2013 (Predicts presidential run by Palin, AWB, another Pelosi speakership)
The Washington Post ^ | December 28, 2012 | Colbert I. King

This year has been quite a storm. Three hundred sixty-five days in a cyclone with fierce weather on all fronts: an economy tossing around in fits and starts; politics stalled by fog and precipitation, with heavy rains arriving in the fall to wash away Republican hopes of winning the White House and both houses of Congress.

What about the coming year?

No doubt we will again find ourselves at year’s end shaking our heads and contemplating what has happened, especially the unexpected.

Here are a few of my educated guesses — and a bit of speculation — about what 2013 has in store.

--snip--

●In the fullness of time, following the New Year’s celebration, leaders of the conservative-dominated GOP (Republicans Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. are in tears) will prostrate themselves and acknowledge that the unceremonious rejection of Republicans on election night had nothing to do with the “gifts” Mitt Romney charged were given to the “47 percent” of Americans by President Obama but, rather, that 63 million Americans didn’t think much of a political brand that has been hijacked by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, the tea party and other assorted right-wingers. Following that cathartic event, intraparty bloodletting will begin.

●Sarah Palin will try her hand at a series of economic, domestic and foreign policy speeches to signal a presidential run in 2016. Media will be ecstatic. Party stalwarts will be apoplectic.

●Democrats will launch a ground war singularly focused on retaking the House in 2014. Nancy Pelosi, accompanied by a surprise combatant, President Obama, will lead the charge...

If Palin this time runs. Can you support her?

Probably so, absent someone better.

I've got no fundamental disagreements with her, other than her personality and the obnoxiousness of her supporters.

What is your problem with HG? I find him very amusing. Do his posts threaten you somehow?

Blah blah liberal talking points.

Blah blah seems to be a rather poor rebuttal to your constant use of liberal talking points concerning Palin.

Your usual cop-outs might work on some here, but don't work on me hummie, LOL.

Your addiction to Palin threads and spewing liberal crap is, as I said before, getting tiresome for many.

You do know why she resigned, do you? It sure wasn’t because she wanted to.

Yeah, she was "undefeated" by "frivolous lawsuits".

Run off by the bad guys, in simpler terms.

Which cost the taxpayers of Alaska hundreds of millions of dollars, which she found unfair to to them
Unlike that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, she thinks of others, not just herself

Well yes, and no.

She was in fact run off by the bad guys. Yes. However there is an aspect to Alaskan law in my understanding which makes defending oneself from such games, personally expensive.

Unlike many states in the lower 48.

Alaska leaves the defendant responsible for all expenses in my understanding. And for Palin that rapidly (after her run for VP) was driven over the top by the NATIONWIDE democratic party attack against her.

So yes, Palin did get run off by the bad guys yes in part. However she did so after running for VP, and then only after national democrat party attention was focused on her.

Yes I will admit Palin backed off. Yes I will also admit she did not run, while she had two daughters growing up at home.

A lot of people would agree with that, by the way.

All that said, I sure hope she this time, runs big.

:D

Hey, your facts are wrong. The reason she quit was because the ethics laws that she got passed made the person holding the office have to pay the costs of defense for ethics complaints without reimbursement from the state of Alaska. This was why they inundated her with lawsuits. Even as governor, her compensation was not enough to cover those costs.

The taxpayers were not charged for this.

As far as I can see, *all* your female FReeper friends are ballsy, gutsy women.

Allegra is another example.

I’m wondering about some kind of weird projection going on here, personally.

I’ve *seen* FReeper guys with “women issues”, the late, not-great Mamelukesabre, for instance.

That one had a misogynistic sadomasochistic thing for me that was insane.

As far as Palin goes, I do not blindly worship her either.

I did like her and respected her, mostly.

I don’t do “cult of personality”, in general.

*If* she really, truly runs this time and stays the course, I’ll back her.

I know the MSM/R-elites really went after her but if she can’t handle the heat...well.
