In a legal argument formally presented in federal court in the case of Hobby Lobby v. Kathleen Sebelius, the Obama administration is claiming that the First Amendmentwhich expressly denies the government the authority to prohibit the free exercise of religionnonetheless allows it to force Christians to directly violate their religious beliefs even on a matter that involves the life and death of innocent human beings.
The Obama administration is making a two-fold argument for why it can force Christians to act against their faith in complying with the regulation it has issued under the Obamacare law that requires virtually all health care plans to cover, without co-pay, sterilizations, contraceptives, and abortion-inducing drugs.
The first argument the administration makes against the owners of Hobby Lobby is that Americans lose their First Amendment right to freely exercise their religion when they form a corporation and engage in commerce. A persons Christianity, the administration argues, cannot be carried out through activities he engages in through an incorporated business.
The second argument the administration makes to justify forcing Christians to act against their faith is more sweeping. Here the administration argues it can force a person to act against his religion so long as the coercion is done under the authority of a law that is neutral and generally applicablein other words, as long as the law was not written specifically to persecute Christians as Christians, the government can use that law to persecute Christians.

PghBaldy ~ Worse than the USSR or Nazi Germany? Really?
Stick around. They're just getting warmed up.
This agnostic hopes so.
As for “every generation”, sure, that's easy to say and shrug off. The difference is that it wasn't until recently that the government subsidized people staying essentially idle well into their twenties by passing out grants and loans to encourage young folks to adapt to the lifestyle of the academic world rather than the productive world of working folks.
It’s not about what most people do. If you are a person of faith, you should not be forced by government to participate in that which compromises your faith and conscience, especially when it comes to issues like abortion.
:) Consider this- it is not religion that is under attack, it is Jesus Christ, himself, who is under attack. He has always been under attack.
People will have to choose to accept or deny Jesus. Then he will accept or deny them. Just like Jesus said: they can’t take our lives away from us, if we lay them down for our friends. They really don’t have power over us, but that doesn’t stop power hungry people from trying.
There is nothing new under the sun. There have always been people who hate God so much, that they will do just about anything at all, to show that they have power over him. Include killing their own children, with their own hand and poisoning themselves with idolatry of numerous kinds.
Does Obama have a track record and a history of saving them? Can the government tells us what is to come? (No, No) Yet people continue to worship the government power elite. They are poisoning themselves.
We have all been here before. This isn’t anything new.
You can’t be “agnostic” and hope in the Lord. :) But welcome to the party, friend. Once you choose hope, anything is possible.
Muslim-owned companies are not exempt, unless the challenges prevail and create a for-profit company freedom of conscience exception that will benefit Christian owners as well.
Mosques have the same exemption as churches.
If there are any Islamically-affiliated public service organizations analogous to Catholic hospital chains, they have the same bullsh*t “exemption” the hospitals do (don’t have to buy birth control but have to buy coverage from carriers who will provide it for “free”).
If you are Christian, how do you fund murder and remain faithful?
"Suffer the children to come unto me."
It IS a religious issue, not a question of buying condoms.
I would think so, but all of these would be insurrectionist have been paying for it for 40 years and haven't raised a pitchfork
I hadn’t thought along those lines, but you have a good point.
Perhaps, should we have another election, the opposition party will run someone we can actually support, rather than the traditional lesser of two evils.
"Catholic Bishops: We Will Not Obey Immoral HHS-Abortion Mandate"
Maybe that explains Obama's efforts to force Catholic hospitals to deliver morally repugnant "services" -- he wants them out of health care, period, because they represent a healthcare alternative that is not the New Democratic (Stalinist) Party.
Obama wants everyone in Sovietcare instead.
So, as long as all school children must eat pork for lunch, it’s ok to force a yeshiva or a madrassa to serve it. Especially if they’re incorporated. Two Amendments down. Three if you count the Tenth. How many more to go?
Sure. Show me in the Bible where it condemns birth control and I’ll support your belief.
The truth is liberals want to stop Blacks from reproducing. But to admit that would be to admit they’re racists. Who hands out free birth control and gives free abortions to anyone who wants them, including teenagers without notifying their parents? Who wants to force every business in the country to pay for abortions? Who wants to force every person who pays taxes to pay for abortions? The answer is DEMOCRAT LIBERALS.
Otherwise they have to abide by Obamacare?
That is not in the spirit of the First Amendment at all.
“Demons have been known to be more powerful than God, at least in the short term.”
no the holy spirit would not change His teachings....that's the point...Protestants do...and often, and as it suits their means..
Catholics do not change their views on birth control (artificial) some unfortunately for them, choose to ignore the RULES
