The site where Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting is building a new meetinghouse was damaged by arsonists during Christmas week, and police are now "absolutely" sure the attack was the result of a dispute between members of a Philadelphia construction union and the project's nonunion contractor.

$500K in damage caused to a Quaker meetinghouse...apparently there's no limit to how low union thugs will go.

Why is nobody ever around to shoot these people when they trespass like this?

Apparently the contractor didn’t pay off the right people.

Would be my solution, too...but don’t think the Quakers would hold with it.
As John Wayne asked Gail Russell: “Are there many of you Quakers?”...”No.”...”I didn’t think so.”

When you’re doing business in enemy territory, extra security should be a first priority.
Why is it not?
Well, if you treat life like a chess game and think a few steps ahead, you might see that soon it would become a full scale war.
The non-union contractor likely concluded he didn’t have enough skin in the game to escalate.

Shouldn’t this also be considered a religous hate crime.

Philly police are UNION. 'I seeee nooothing...I knooow nooothing..." Our nation made a huge mistake by allowing public servants (police, teachers, fire fighters, gov employees) to unionize. Believe it or not, FDR warned us against unionizing public servants. Conflict of interest and conflict with the public will has been repeatedly put on display by our unionized and so-called public servants.
It amazes me that our representatives at every level continue to thrown OUR money at the these greedy public servants - particularly the teachers racket.
In any other business, the efficient, innovative and productive survive. With public unions - the opposite is true.

This is one of the major reasons that I hate unions. They are no different than the mafia. If the union bosses don’t get their cut, people get hurt or killed and property gets destroyed. Unions should be illegal in a free country. JMO.

Shouldnt this also be considered a religous hate crime. It will be interesting to see whether the public sympathy caused by the fact that this was a Quaker site that was "targeted" will in fact drive a real investigation. Somehow I doubt it.

Is this not a job for the FBI?

Unions should be illegal in a free country. JMO.Greed was the cause of the creation of the unions and it looks like greed will be the cause of their destruction.

I agree. They try to cover their greed by blaming everyone else of being greedy. It is starting to catch up with them.

Phila. police tie construction-site arson to union sabotage...why, that's just impossible - the local electricians' union has been running TV ads all season long wishing everyone happy holidays and assuring one and all what good neighbors they are and what good work they do - I'm sure no union thug, er, member would ever condone sabotage/sarc......
To: Figment
The Quakers need a Mafia like the Amish /sFrom what I hear, the Amish Mafia is overqualified and undertasked - they might do a little "contract" work...
