CHICAGO (AP) Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says the city has logged its 500th homicide of the year.
McCarthy issued a statement Friday calling the milestone a "tragic number that is reflective of the gang violence and proliferation of illegal guns that have plagued some of our neighborhoods."

Gosh...I thought Memphis, my birth and childhood city (1944),
was the murder capital with 100 per year. 95 percent, if not all, blacks killing blacks.
ROTFLMAOPIMP......that first video is hysterical and pathetic at the same time. These are the “pros” that we keep hearing about that are the only ones that should be trusted with guns. Truly scary.
I believe you...seriously. Happens all the time. I wouldn't worry about it at all.
“How many by legal gun owners?”

I would wager absolutely none.
I grew up in a suburb of Chicago. When I was a teen, my sister and I went out to dinner with our parents on the South Side. My Dad said, “Let’s look at the old neighborhood,” on Pulaski, where he grew up.
The Poles and Czechs had all moved out, replaced by guys in shower caps, drinking Colt .45.
My Dad told us to roll up the windows and lock the doors. Pretty sad.
I don’t know what the answer is—but I do know I want my 13 year-old daughter to be able to protect herself if she has to walk home late after studying in college. There’s a reason pistols were known as the Great Equalizer in the Wild West.
I have this debate all the time with my Canadian (anti-gun) family.
J.
In Canada, there was a billion-plus gun registry that did absolutely nothing to stop crime. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws—and these are the results.
I’m very surprised that it’s that low. And, it probably isn’t that low in reality. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that “500” number is fudged.
Hi, 2nd amendment mama;
Please see my post downthread—I think it’s number 24.
I couldn’t agree with you more.
Julie
Please don’t worry about posting duplicates and the complainers; the mods can fix that—and people appreciate the time and energy you took into posting this. I know I did. :)
gang trash killing gang trash....other than the fact that the taxpayers have to pay for the buriels....who cares??

I have been on FR since 1998 and this is the first time I have ever seen a duplicate thread. Mama you should be shamed. Shamed I tell ya.

LOL! :)
Happy New Year, everyone! :)
In one weekend!
What part of Canada are you in?
A quick search of the word "Chicago" would've shown the other thread ....
“And if you factor out just 4 neighborhoods the murder rate in Chicago drops by 75%.”
Why don’t Feinstein and the Chicago Police go in there and confiscate their firearms? I would love to watch that fiasco. Let’s see what real gun control looks like in neighborhoods where law abiding citizens don’t live.
I want Feinstein to lead the raids...stupid hag.
Thank you for posting this thread — I looked for one earlier today and didn’t see it either. So, I was waiting for the thread.
The search function doesn’t work very well and the moderators have said that they don’t care if you post a duplicate story if it has been more than four hours since the last one. Ignore the whiners, I’m glad you posted this or I wouldn’t have seen it.
Pretty good article, I hadn’t seen it yet.
As a matter of fact, I may post it again after while. That would sure get certain panties in a wad now wouldn’t it?
It seems like Chicago needs some community organizing. I know of a community organizer, and if they can hold out 4 more years...
I love these stories from Obamavilles; can I get a Jamie Foxx “lord and savior” shout-out?
People should cheer these stories with as much enthusiasm as the permanent underclass cheers Foxx & co.
Urban renewal Chi style.
