Above the Law? Howard Kurtz Scolds D.C. Police for Investigating NBC's David Gregory

Howard Kurtz of The Daily Beast has some tough talk for the D.C. Police investigating NBC's David Gregory. In an interview with the NRA's Wayne LaPierre on Sunday's Meet the Press, Gregory had produced an high capacity magazine on-air in violation of D.C. gun laws, thus attracting a police investigation.

Kurtz lamely implied that although Gregory broke the law, he shouldn't be prosecuted for it. "But the D.C. Police Department apparently has nothing better to do than examine whether he violated the city’s gun laws," Kurtz scoffed in his column at the Daily Download.

Gregory clearly broke the law. Should journalists be above the law? Kurtz thinks Gregory shouldn't be prosecuted:

"The late word that NBC requested, and failed to receive, permission from the police certainly complicates the matter. But I don’t think Gregory was planning to commit any crimes," argues Kurtz.

I like Howie but he’s a mensch, and sometimes a bit of a schlemiel. Absolutely Gregory should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Of course the law is a bad one. Enforcing bad law is the surest way to get bad law changed.

Doubtless Obama would give him a pardon.

I thought that was the purpose of the D.C. law. If it is not going to be inforced, what is the point of the law. Or, are we goverend by men, not laws?

A Bass player friend of mine took his brother’s car home from a party because he wanted to leave and his brother wanted to stay. He rolled a stop sign. Officer asked him for license and registration. He opens the glove compartment and there is his brother’s gun. He did a year on Deer island because of the Bartley-Foxx Law.

“You does the crime, you does the time. Should get at least 1 year and 3 years probation for felony possession of a machine gun magazine.”

Excuse me, but according to NBC that was a magazine from a fully-automatic, Saturday Night Special, Glock revolver, AK-47, AR-15, junk gun.

Couldn’t get to my grenades,
(yeah rite)
the was in the shop,
my stomach was tied into a monkey knot.
Ya, my only hope was Betty Lou,
she was the one,
a combination AK-57 Uzzi radar laser triple-barrel double-scoped heat-seekin’ shotgun...

Now imagine for a minute if Rush Limbaugh had done exactly what Mr. Gregory did. Are the police still wrong?

Why hasn’t the DC SWAT team stormed the studios?

Most owners of firearms aren’t planning to commit crimes, either”””

Oldsmobile/General Motors wasn’t planning on having Teddy Kennedy kill Mary Jo Koepekne, either.

No one called for the banning of Oldsmobiles.

No one called for the banning of ‘large gas tanks’.

Britain has outlawed guns and now stabbings are on the rise- dramatically. So Britain is calling for a ban on LONG KITCHEN knives to stop the stabbings!!!!!

What’s next? Heavy Bookends? I have a couple of pair of such that would kill you if I hit you with one.......

I could go on and on.

Today I saw some libs on the Dem channel defending the publishing registered gun owners names and addresses””

I like the opposite side of that list:

Publishing such information tells the criminals who DOES NOT have a gun, so those residents have now become a more lucrative target, IMO.
