HARRY REID: 'It Looks Like' We'll Go Over The Cliff
Brett LoGiurato
December 27, 2012
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said this morning that it "looks like" Congress will fail to come to a deal to avert the year-end fiscal cliff.
"It looks like that's where we're headed," Reid said. "I don't know, time-wise, how it can happen now."
It's not exactly a surprise leaders left Washington last week without any imminent signs of a deal in the making. But it's a grim warning just days before tax hikes and automatic spending cuts begin to take effect.
Reid opened the Senate session by launching into a lengthy criticism of the House and Speaker John Boehner, saying he "seems to care more about his Speakership" than making a deal on the cliff.
The House is being run "by a dictatorship of the Speaker," Reid said. He accused Boehner of waiting until the election of the Speaker on Jan. 3 to get involved with negotiations.
Reid also slammed the House for not being in session on Thursday. He said that instead of being in Washington, Republicans are "out watching movies."
"They had to have a conference call," he said.
Reid's comments come a day after Boehner put the onus on the Senate on making the next move in fiscal cliff negotiations.

Project much, Harry?
Elections have consequences America...see the pain, feel the pain.
Gee, those in DC think if they control our health care (which they do) , how much money they allow us to keep (which they do) and which firearms they allow us to have (which they will do), that they can actually control all of us. How absurd of an idea is that?
Harry Reid is a monster. He has the face and body of a 73-year-old retiree, the crotchety manner of a pompous curmudgeon out of ‘’The Pickwick Papers,’’ and the temperament of an angry three-year-old whose only response to not getting his own way is to run to Mommy (the news cameras) and complain about the other kids on the playground being mean.
No wonder the Dow Jones average is down more than 100 points following Harry’s Senate tantrum. Investors are adults, they have to be to be given the responsibility of managing billions of dollars, and they know Harry’s not a fellow adult. Which means that neither are the other Senate Democrats who chose him as their leader.
Who wants to invest in a country ‘’governed’’ by people like Harry Reid?
That is the reason Reid said what he said. This is to scare the GOP into doing things that Obama wants.
“Term Limits” would cure a multitude of evils.
What cliff? We’ll be going back to Clinto era tax rates. Big deal. According to liberals that was a time of prosperity.
