Conservatives urge GOP leaders to be bold, prepare to go over cliff

Conservative activists who helped doom Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) “Plan B” say Republicans must be prepared to go over the fiscal cliff to force President Obama to reach a deal that includes no tax hikes. …

“I think Obama is very mindful of his legacy and is horrified of going over the cliff,” said Andy Roth of the Club for Growth. “Going over the cliff might be a signal that needs to be sent to the president, that he needs to play ball.” …

“I think it is certainly better to go over the fiscal cliff than to have the Republican party deny the American people to have one party that stands for lower taxes and another party that doesn’t,” Michael Needham of Heritage Action said last week. …

“The worst thing that Republicans can do is raise taxes,” Matt Kibbe of Freedomworks said Friday. “If Obama wants to raise taxes, he can do that, but Republicans shouldn’t give him cover. If Obama wants to go over the cliff, let him own that.” …

Obama IS the cliff.

if the House approves the Senate plan

How can the Senate have a plan?

All tax bills must begin in the House.

How I am learning to love the Cliff...
It hits the liberal high tax states of both coasts the hardest. Its a different sort of game than we are used to. This cliff will hurt me, no doubt, but it will not hurt me near as much as someone in New York especially New York City. Liberals have a history of making others pay for their generosity but this time they will have to pay. Wages and non earned income are the highest in liberal land so the value of deductions are highest. Some of those states will not survive significantly higher taxes.

Only down side is that their residents will flee to the good states.

Our grandchildren dont have to repay a single dime if they choose not to. The current generations keep repeating the mantra “our grandchildren will have to pay” in an attempt to secure their Social Security and Medicare welfare benefits.

The next generation could say no more and end it. They can have their politicians repudiate the debt. Flame Thomas Jefferson if you dispute this thinking. Also see the definiton of Sovereign Debt.

This fiscal cliff thing is a win/win for the Communist Obama. He gets his tax raises, and as a bonus they are on everybody, and he gets to blame Republicans for it with a full media assault driving it home nightly.

Yep. And after a few months of paying Clinton-era tax rates, the Democrats will ride to the rescue with tax cuts for the middle class and just dare the Republicans to vote against it.

Guess what, nobody is going to die or be harmed from this little cliff. Look out for the one we are free falling from in Obamanomics.

Merry Christmas

RE :”Furthermore, I don’t understand why conservatives are still letting themselves be dictated to by a man, Grover Norquist, who as reported here several times at FR is an apparent Muslim sympathizer. Is this why he is pushing so hard for no taxes that will damage support to our Military? What his efforts will do to our military if sequestration is allowed to take place borders on treason.”

Norquist is an interesting character. Before last week I could of sworn that he was threatening any Republican who votes for a partial extension of the Bush rates, but then last week with plan B he said that is technically not a tax increase.

I dont know where the automatic military cuts came from, they just appeared out of the blue in the Budget control act (2011) cited as a Republican deficit reduction victory , then Republicans spent most of this year 2012 warning how terrible they would be. So why didnt they offer sensible cuts to the military instead?

I have no problem with Republicans playing hardball if it leads to them beating O(for a change) , but watching them now it certainly seems that they are going to screw this one up too. It doesn't look like they know what they are doing, what will the argument be when they all go up? This writer seems to imply that they will just say "Obama raised your taxes" and do nothing.

The 2010 lame duck Senate minority Rs created this time-bomb by forcing an extension of all the cuts for two more years. If the upper ones went up early 2011 and the economy slowed (for any reason)Obama would have had less chance of this second term. That two year extension was the best luck O had, now it is trap for Republicans because they have the House now.

The media will make sure that the Tea Party owns every bad thing that happens until doomsday.

Yep, and that may work in the short term. But history will record that the epic FAIL happened on Ubama's watch. Nobody will even remember the Speaker of the House or the Senate Majority Leader.

The "next generation" will be even more spoiled and "entitled" than the Democrat moocher scum who elected Ubama. They're going to suddenly stand up and say, "I want to work hard and become successful and self reliant."? A few will, sure, but the rest of the ignorant scum that oozes out of the government schools? I don't think so.

Face it, home, America is dead. The Democrats have won.
