Why are there any number of armed cops at the courthouse?
Why not just declare those places gun free zones?
I have a better question, why is this rag still in press? Nobody with half a brain - except effete New Yorkers and people who once were, bothers to read it.
Its a liberal fantasy piece - all of it.
Pure Trash and won’t improve under the leadership of the maniac dictator of New York City.
Sounds like an excellent idea to me. I will volunteer my own time, unpaid, my own gear, pay for whatever background check, training, and qualification they want. Then ilk give the one day a month standing guard at any school in the county. Time for an old west volunteer posse.
Seriously - do we live in the Twilight Zone? The ONLY way that someone could argue that placing armed guards in the schools would expose our children to "far greater risk" is if one is arguing that the guards themselves would turn their guns on the kids. One of the commenters even says "and who will guard the guards?"
Ridiculous.
Most schools don’t need armed security but they do need the option if they so choose.
The state of New York is teetering on collapse.
If there was a rash of bank robberies what would the NYT suggest to prevent them, banning getaway cars?

Logical arguments have no effect on someone whose position is based on emotion/hatred/fantical devotion to a political agenda.
Dear Santa FreeperClaus: I’ve been an extra special good boy this year. I’m asking you for the same thing that I’ve asked for for the past two years. Please make the New York Times go away! I only swore once.....OK, it was more than once. And yes, I called that guy a baboon, but if he looks like a baboon and smells like a baboon and writes like a baboon, then what am I supposed to call him? Mr. Vice President? Sure....that other guy wanted me to do his research for free, and in the spirit of Christmas, I might have done it, but the Grinch made me say no. Well, I hope you can overlook these trifling, almost unnoticeable little jokes and get rid of that awful farm supply catalog trying to pass itself off as a newspaper. Felicia Nevada!
Are all you fat bass turds (Michael Moore)related, physically, mentally, intellectually and politically?
How does one go about "arming" a school?
Didn't Clinton's police-in-schools plan after Columbine have police..in schools...with guns??
So how do the Slimes think a bad guy shooting up a “gun free zone” gets stopped? With spit balls?
I saw a COPS show on TV tonight where the Blues were doing a Sting on internet prostitution. There were at least three doing the audio and video; two or three being the sting come-ons; 6-8 doing the take downs and at least two outside as lookouts. They use about the same amount on drugs stings from what I have seen.
This show and others like this make me think that these Blues could work the schools and probably come up with the same number of Prostitutes/deviant-teachers and druggies if they were at public schools. At the same time keeping the random nutjob from roaming the corridors!
Maybe the Blues should put more emphasis on protecting children than making a bust of a whore or druggie that puts someone in jail for a day or two.
My $0.02 worth.
Arent some schools already secured with nice guys with guns? Inner city schools have metal detectors. I assumed that many American schools were guarded.
I think that security will be a popular topic of conversation with teachers at schools all over the country. That expensive security system at the Sandy Hook School was a waste of money. When it comes down to their personal protection, perhaps the teaching community will agree with the NRA.
My food store has an armed guard.
If the Connecticut shooter failed to make it into the school he could have easily targeted a bus stop on/off school.
“Who will guard the guards” has an excellent answer: make everybody the guards.
There are more than 100,000 schools in this country and a tiny fraction of a percent have had mass shootings.
Better to let the local school districts decide for themselves if they want a few discretely armed staff. It worked fine when I was growing up
if the left insists on keeping crazy nut jobs on the street, what’s the alternative?
you don’t need guns to wipe out a school of kids and a few female teachers. just a little training, a knife, and chained doors. in that scenario, a gun would be their only protection
of course, that would be logical thinking... and ruins the emotional narrative the left is trying to muster
just like they were trying to do with fast & furious... how many died for that effort again? how many arrested and placed in jail for setting it in motion?
All Los Angeles high schools have armed protection.
