To shoot birds.
He said.
He knew there was a risk or he wouldn't have sought out information.
We here in Northern Mexico (San Diego to those in Rio Linda) know not to cross that border for any reason. This isn't 1980 any more.
I wish both these men a very merry Christmas and a saner, more prosperous and very healthy New Year.
Thank you,President Obama,Oh Wait.......
I am glad that everyone is so knowlegeable about the mental/emotional condition of this young Marine after two tours in combat and suffering from PTSD.Perhaps you all can go work at the VA and start diagnosing combat veterans and tell them the brilliant “What were you thinking?” after they do something the YOU wouldn’t do.
Lets leave calling this WAR HERO a “fool” to the MSM, I really don’t like to see that disparaging Monday Morning Quarterbacking here on Freeper about our troops. Soon enough we will have Kerry do that for us.
And just maybe, he did not have the perspective of wisdom that you all seem to have. This young man needs all the support he can get, not criticism that NOW is of no avail to him.
I said nothing about his mental state. I simply stated what transpired before he and his friends went across the border. Chill out and learn some facts!
Excellent post.
Well done.
Excellent post.

Sounds like someone needs to hold his guns for him until he gets his psychiatric problems resolved.
He was a damned fool to do what hectic and I’ll bet, upon reflection, he’d agree more with me than you. I’m not detracting anything from his heroism to suggest he acted like a fool. John McCain and George McGovern were both war heroes and they were way bigger fools.

What he did was undeniably foolish. Nobody here is calling him a buffoon or democrat.
Thanks.
Its just so easy to say this young man did something foolish.
It was the tone and needless negative comments that I objected to. It was more than what I would expect On Freeper. Regardless if his act was “foolish” by some standards, this is not the time, and without further information to call him a fool.
The anger should be reserved for the Mexican govt and our Pres. who did not denounce this unlawful imprisonment and ask for his speedy release in August.
I guess now I should apologize for having strong supportive feelings about our military and being “overly sensitive” to any slights they may get.
I think the kid knew he made a big mistake even if you don’t.
My opinion is that most of the people posting here are too old to remember their 20s, and the mistakes that we all make in our youth. I’m in my 40s now, and feel like I would know not to do that (bring a gun into Mexico), but I might have acted differently at 27. Especially since he was told by some buffoon on the U.S. side that it was OK.
Excellant points....not only are they older, but ohhhhhh so much wiser.
Total know-it-alls....
:0)
It is a miracle that I made it out of my twenties,,,HA.
