Mayor Emanuel has released a fiery statement denouncing the National Rifle Association for advocating armed police in about every school.
Rahm Emanuel prepared an unusually strong statement, even by his standards.
Its outrageous and unsettling that the NRA would choose to address gun violence not by taking assault weapons off our streets, but by adding more guns to our schools, " the mayor said in a statement.
The statement went on to say "that is not the right answer for our society, our schools and most importantly our children. People across this country, from small towns to big cities, are united and ready to pass common-sense gun control legislation.
The mayor says the time has come for the NRA to get on board or get out of the way.
Its worth noting that for many years, many Chicago high schools have had armed police and metal detectors.
Based on his record of curbing violence in Chicago, he should be ashamed to speak
wow

Exclude DC,Chicago,LA, Philly, E.St.louis & Baltimore and wed probably have the gun murder rate of Switzerland.
You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that its an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.

Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizen to bear arms is just one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible. - Hubert Humphrey(bitter clinger), 1960
Gun bans dont disarm criminals, gun bans attract them.- Walter Mondale, U.S. Ambassador to Japan(bitter clinger), April 20, 1994
446. That’s all you need to know Rahmbo.
On your watch. With your laws.
446 school age children shot in Chicago so far this year with strongest gun laws in country media silent
Hmmmm
He forgot to tell us it didn’t conform to ChiTown’s moral standards etc
The democrat party cultivates violence.
This is the mayor of a city which is approaching 500 firearm fatalities in 2012, right? Obviously, his methods aren’t working.
Is Semmens writing under a ‘nom de plum’ now?
Armed police to guard the money in banks, the statues in museums and such but certainly not the children. Easy to see where their priorities are. They really hate the children don’t they.
Control your South Side, you twerp.
A totally predictable response from the Marxist element. They fear any opposition that is well armed and motivated.
He who has never had control of his city, is a nitwit wearing ballerina slippers.
This is what marxists always do. They sense their moment is nigh...I fear they are right. It is a good time to be old. I’m going to keep score until the end.

To hell with the Constitution!/s
Gee, I wonder why none of these folks unloaded on Barbara Boxer the other day when she proposed writing legislation which would allow the National Guard to replace desk jockey cops so that those cops would then be freed up to guard the schools.
I mean, Boxer is essentially saying the same thing; we need to place police officers in the schools to protect our children.
Of course, now that the NRA has endorsed Barbara Boxer’s plan, I’m sure she’ll conveniently forget all about it...
Cheers!
