I have a question for anyone who can help. I have a 10-mm handgun. I have not been able to find ammo for it locally for quite some time now. I am about to purchase some online, but I am not sure what to get. What is more important? Bullet weight or muzzle velocity? And does anyone have any preference to any particular brand? Does it make any difference what type of practice rounds I use? And finally, can I use .40-cal ammo instead? Several people have told me I can, but mathematically, .40-in is bigger than 10-mm.

Thanks in advance.

You could use a pair of vise-grips to squeeze ‘er down to 9mm.

You can’t use .40 S and W in the 10 mm Glock Model 20. And you can’t reconfigure the Model 20 to use .40 because neither the factory nor anyone else makes .40 S and W chambered barrels nor magazines of the proper dimensions to convert the Model 20. Get the proper ammo if you can; otherwise, one other option is to reload. There is a third option; you can buy a complete upper end (assembled slide, barrel) and magazines to convert the Model 20 to the Model 21 and shoot the more available .45 Auto round.

S& W’s model 610 is fine for this. I use the cheaper .40 for practice in mine. Far as 10mm ammo, I prefer heavy weight to high velocity, with no brand preference for this revolver. It’s a hose.

YMMV depending on your particular gun. Especially if yours is an auto-feeder, consult your gun’s manufacturer before attempting it.
