A Virginia man was arrested Wednesday after police say he brought a 2-by-4-foot board with the words 'High Powered Rifle' written on its side into Sandy Hook Elementary School in the town of Strasburg, MyFoxDC.com reported.
Christopher Johnson, 33, was apparently trying to bring attention to how easy it is to bring a weapon into a school, Scott Proctor, a major at the Shenandoah County Sheriffs office, said. Johnson was reportedly detained by a school resource officer before he was taken into police custody.

All local state and federal buildings have great security for thier politicians judges and personel meanwhile our school security is much like the security in a local store or small bank. Parents need to redirect thier anger and frustration at the politicians. Do they allow your children in school if there is no working fire alarm system?
Are you FReeping from jail? What you did is only a notch or two better than the fool with the board who was arrested.
You’re lucky the school authorities didn’t call the cops and file a report on you after you fessed up.
Arrest me for what? As I clearly stated in my post, I FOLLOW THE RULES.
Congrats, you have totally (well, not really totally, that happened yesterday at work) incensed me. What I did was legal, on every count. I have grandchildren in those schools, I have every right to be in those schools. My gun was locked in the glove box of my locked vehicle, I had ID for me, where I work, my CPL and pictures of my grandkids in my wallet.
What I did was show the schools where their security is pathetic.
ANd file a report for what? "So and So's gramma was here today and she didn't check in at the office"? It is not a law here yet that says we must check in at the door.
I am being proactive. Are you my boss? Still not over yesterday, eh?
Charge him with terrorism
Or better: "Your honor, he told me he had a 'high-powered rifle' and he aimed it at me. I simply took him at his word."
Man held without bond for screaming, jumping up and down near school...
And you? You knowingly and willfully breached security and entered without authorization. You trespassed. Tensions are very high and everyone is on alert right now.
I know you think you should feel smug in showing the weaknesses and the flaws in those schools security systems, and I - having common sense - would not charge you; but still. You gotta know what you did was foolish.
Thought crime: You embarrassed them.
I do not feel smug. I feel that my grandchildren are not safe at school. I trespassed? In a public school? Really? That’s all you got?
Again, I ask you. What have YOU done to assure your kids’ safety?
I refuse to accept your label of “foolish”. Trust me, I know the laws in my area (not only do I have common sense, I have legal sense), and I broke no laws. I even made one secretary very happy. Get that? SHE was happy to learn that her school had become so complacent, all in the space of one day. Again, what have you done?
Oh, and I read your link. Yep, here the guy would have been taken into custody. I, wearing a camel-colored long winter coat, and carrying my purse (all the ID’s, ya know) walked into a school. When the teachers and students (including my grandchild) smiled and said hello, I returned the smile and said hello also. My face is not known at these school, unless it’s in my car to pick someone up or for a school program. I AM NOT A FAMILIAR FACE)I did absolutely nothing to cause any terror or fear, in anyone.
What have you done? Yes, I’ll keep asking that until I get an answer. And if you tell me you watched so-and-so on TV, or read an article on the net, well, I guess you don’t have kids. That’s ok. Don’t you DARE call me foolish because I acted (absolutely, totally legally, in a calm, non-threatening way)upon my concerns. And, just in case you care, some changes will be made, based on my reports to the schools. And, at least I know, all my kids have rooms with egress windows. Evade, Escape and Run. What about you?
(wow, I think I’ve just started my first confict on FR! And it’s not even to score hits on you! Maybe it will wake you and someone else up)
What have you done?
Part of the confusion arises from the fact that police found a semi-auto shotgun locked in Lanza's car (well, his mother's) at the school.
In Friday's earliest reports, reporters assumed the shotgun they saw the police remove from the car was the Bushmaster. Remember that these reporters used to think everything was an AK-47; now, every 'scary' firearm will be an AR-15.
So within a week of a school mass murder, you take it upon yourself to walk unannounced into and around at least two different schools to test their security. Your qualifications appear to be that you have a concealed carry permit and you have grandchildren in the schools.
You do sound smug. You also appear to have a horrible sense of timing. Why couldn’t it wait for say a month, once cooler heads can look at the matter? Or did you not want to miss the opportunity to make it about you and how right you are?
And let’s take a look at that “legal sense” of yours. You apparently think that you are free to walk into a school because it is “public”? Please. If you have the right to waltz around a public school then why are you upset no one challenged you for doing just that? I mean those are your rights, correct?
You sound like a hothead. Good luck with that.
You may ask me - what have I done? For one, I didn’t do what you did, that’s for sure.
some of the early reports were very very wrong
btw- how can someone walk around with an long gun and not be noticed?
the cardboard rolls underneath that wrapping paper is a deadly weapon
“Remember that these reporters used to think everything was an AK-47; now, every ‘scary’ firearm will be an AR-15.”
You’re right, but the new buzzword is Bushmaster.
*Laughing*
I paused before typing "AR-15," trying to decide whether or not to type "Bushmaster." So count me in.
I don’t think if a teacher would be alarmed if he or she saw someone walking up the steps with a board. They might strain their eyes trying to read what he wrote on it.
True. With the high number of attacks lately, you should never have left your Weapon in the car. Had someone actually attacked the school at that moment, you would have been defenseless, and unable to show how having someone on school property covertly armed would help put a stop to this nonsense.
I think that has been cleared up, hasn't it ? He wasn't a student, bottom line.
Or six months....
But... what happens if TODAY, the day you put off doing it, is the day that a crazed lunatic feeding off the end of the world hysteria walks into the school and kills your children, or grandchildren?
The same day of this massacre, a man walked into a Russian school and killed around 20 children, all with a knife. Funny how the media has largely ignored that story.
