If negligence that results in death can’t even get you fired from a government job, then what can get you fired? Or is it just employment for life for Democrats?
At worst, if the scandal or crime is too hot and they have to throw you under the bus, resign and patiently wait for reassignment---generally speaking, it will be to a position where you can do as much or better "good." You will be compensated.
