Have nothing against Inouye in particular, but when 88 year-old Senators are dying in office (after having won re-election 2 years earlier), what does it say about politics in Hawaii, or the USA for that matter?

Any idea of which Democrat Neil Abercrombie will appoint to serve in the US Senate for the next 50 years?

Amen to that! No matter how ill or incompetent they are, most politicians are pretty much guaranteed to stay in office for life. What about that one senator from S. Dakota who had the stroke? Has he recovered, or are other people voting for him? And, of course, there was Sen. Byrd who was obviously too ill to perform his duties, but nothing was done to remove him from office. We don’t have elected officials; we have royalty.

Medal of Honor recipient, a True American hero, not like some who are anointed by the media.

As an 80 year old I’m curious. What does it say?

Some Jewish people were helpful to him early on in life. So later on as a Senator he slipped in some million dollar appropriations to help build some Jewish and Hasidic schools

Robert Bird

Storm Thurmond was reelected at age 95 or 96.

He was a true hero. When he had his arm blown off, he was in the process of throwing a grenade; despite the horrific injury, he picked up the grenade with his left hand and proceeded to throw it and destroyed a German bunker. This was after he was shot in the stomach.

Megs-Dittoes! The downside, "Leaky Leahy" from Vermont is third in line to the POTUS.

He was a WWII vet but he was a bastard during the Iran Contra hearings. The look of vitriol on his face when Brendan Sullivan interrupted his tirade comparing North, etc. to the Nazi just following orders! He didn’t like that at all!
