Sunday
I learned about the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school while we were setting up at Fox News to tape Cavuto on Business. The news was so horrible that we all felt as if we had lost our legs and could no longer stand. It was such horrible news that it simply turned the world upside down.
It still is that kind of news, and its incredibly depressing about the nature of humanity. And my wife and I pray all day for the souls of those dear children and for the peace, if there ever will be peace, of their families and for the souls of the adults and the peace of those who knew and loved them.
As usual, the smartest comment about the whole subject came from John R. Coyne, Jr. There is evil in the world. Its beyond mental illness, beyond gun control. It is evil.

and that will not do anything of value except set up another ‘security force’ which is what the ‘serve and protect’ folks are supposed to do.
The truth is that we appear to be living in times that are driven by Evil and I do mean that in the most biblical sense. We have drifted away from God and our faith. The nation is adrift and looking for earthly answers. In times past this would be the time that people of faith would act in prayer and obedience and a grand revival would occur. I do not see any of that in recent years.
I pray that if indeed we are in the end times that the God of mercy will shorten the days for our sake.
And, your point is what?
With such a plan in place, an armed security guard would have been at that locked door when the perp started to smash the glass with the butt of his rifle.
Officer backs off clear of the entrance and when perp enters, officer drops him. Game over.
but maybe you’ve heard the answer.
Perhaps when God created us, He left the concept of good and evil up to us, and that’s why it appears to change with time. Maybe there is no good or evil for God, maybe just reality (what a concept).
Interesting postit. Carry on. When a man (or woman, but I'll use man from here on out) is faced with a choice of actions, how does he decide which to implement?
I’m sure that’s dependent on the situation, the individual and probably dozens of other factors.
You seem to be someone who prefers to muddy the waters rather than engage in honest, interesting discussion.
It's too bad. You might have had an interesting point. But I guess we won't find out.
Don’t watch certain tv shows or go to certain movies. They have a bad influence.
Its a judgement call, in my neighborhood, channel 123 is a station that has nothing but weird murders on it. I always avoid that station.
Other stations occasionally have programming you don’t want to see. I’m not saying anything beyond showing some common sense as to what you watch.
“In the worldly view, man is inherently good”
Yes; in the wordly view. In the Christian view, men are inherently evil due to original sin (Adam’s sin); we are born lost and sinful and “achieve good-ness” (salvation) by accepting Christ in a personal (not technical) way.
Only in a perfect world!
Saw some news station pmsnbc or something this afternoon and now we’re back to 2 handguns and one AR. WTH? Sure are a lot of confusing tidbits out there. I guess we’ll never know the real story. Other than 20 little kids were wrongfully terminated. Jerk should have just done himself and left the kids alone.
That was an honest answer. How else could your question be answered? You must know that no one knows why others do what they do what.

Certainly, when judging a crime, you should not presume you understand why the accused might have done what he is accused of doing. But in a general sense, when you posit that there is no such thing as good or evil, you are removing a particular basis for choosing one thing over another. Many people use good and evil as the basis for making their choices. You seem to want to replace that paradigm. I was asking what you want to replace it with.
No, I said I believe that good and evil are strictly human concepts. It exists for us and is fluid, changing with any number of factors. I believe that God is above that. I think He created us, gave us this inherent trait and is watching how we progress as a race. I do not believe God judges us.
I dunno. If the assigned duty of the armed personnel is to watch and guard the entrance(s) (presuming more than one entrance and more than one guard) it would seem reasonable that there would have been a guard there when Lanza started his attack run.
Now, if this becomes the norm, the sickos will adapt for there are any number of other ways into a school than the front, side or back door.
Interesting concept. C. S. Lewis took that on in "The Abolition of Man." It's a good read, although it's dense so you have to pay close attention to the logic of the book.
The conclusion isn't pretty.
