I tend to think it was the dad...so busy climbing the corporate ladder that he forgot he had a kid - and a troubled kid.
I’m sure he’s proud of his career achievements now.
Two good points. Adam sounds like a failed Asperger's case. Supposedly high IQ, but totally disconnected personality. In Massachusetts a few years back, there was a fatal high school stabbing by a moderate functioning Asperger's kid. He was known to be problematic, but not crazy-violent. He went off without warning, as seems to have happened here.
It's easier and better publicity to focus publicly on the gun shops than on the psychiatric profile of Mom and son. That would probably be more fruitful. I wonder if Adam was taking any meds, too. As to Adam's problems, a genetic component would not be surprising.

It is to insinuate that some illegal thing is being hidden.
After all the “high powered weapons” where hidden in that secret hiding place hollowed out in the back of the closet under the stairs, weren’t they?

Here we go with leftist hyperbole about something they know little about: I wouldn’t call a 5.56 rifle high-powered. Given the range of rifles either comes in .22 rimfire or centerfire. But more to the point: as defined by what ammo and long guns that Walmart sells, centerfire starts at .223 (or 5.56).
So, now we have one more entry in the leftist dictionary of gun politics. In addition to “assault rifle”, which is defined as any rifle that looks like an evil military rifle, we now have “high power”.
A “high-power” rifle means any caliber above 22 rimfire, irrespective of how people who are familiar with firearms would define the term.
The warning here is that he who gets to define the terms gets to control the outcome of the public discussion. So, be careful what terms you accept and how you use them, because in doing so the left gets to shift the debate towards the ends it seeks.
We know a family whose teenage son ambushed and killed both his parents with a rifle as they returned home from work one day.
This was a family active in the church, community, sports, Boy Scouts - model citizens, really. There were no warning signs that the son was troubled other than that he struggled a bit in school - maintained a C average in a very well respected school district.
The son was a minor at the time and was judged, guilty but mentally incompetent. He has been in a psychiatric facility for the past 15 years and to this day, shows no signs of remorse for what he did.
Sometimes there are no reasons and nothing to blame except the fact that there are evil and mentally/emotionally imbalanced people that just snap at some unforeseen or unanticipated point in their lives.
This is a scary thing, but it’s the fallen world we live in.

Couldn’t agree more. And make no mistake the word shifts are intentional.
I have heard that he didn’t get to purchase the gun he wanted. Gun store turned him down for being underage. That part, if true, shows that gun laws and gun stores are doing their jobs.
However, his mother was perfectly entitled to have as many guns as she felt comfortable with. The kid kills her to get her guns——and he has various possible mental problems.
When the coming chaos starts, what weapons are YOU planning to use to protect yourself and your family?

There is another rumor floating around that Obama is going to decree that anyone holding more than 3 days of food will be declared a HOARDER.
That brings up many questions—
Mormons hold a minimum of 1 year of supplies on hand, some even more.
I am on social security and I am certainly NOT alone in that status. I get my ss money and go to the stores and do all my full month’s shopping, except for milk.
I try to keep my driving to a minimum, for the cost of fuel and the maintenance on my vehicles.
IF I am held to a 3 day supply of food, I will have to make 10 trips a month to the grocery store. Since I am alone, that will be a very short list of purchases. It also will cost me about $160 more a month in fuel—I go 49 miles round trip for my meat and main supplies. I will actually be spending more on fuel than I will be spending on groceries most months.
Then there is the problem of what constitutes a 3 day supply for a single person? A dozen eggs is more than a 3 day supply. A loaf of bread is more than a 3 day supply. A pound of butter is more than a 3 day supply. A jar of strawberry jam. A jar of peanut butter. A bottle of vegetable oil for cooking. A bag of flour. A bag of sugar.
A can of coffee. Even a single roasting chicken and certainly a turkey is more than a 3 day supply.
Hunters put their deer into the freezer.....more than a 3 day supply. How about a farm that puts a couple of lambs, a yearling beef and lots of chickens into a freezer for the coming year? Is there a single brain cell working in Washington??
Then there is the matter of INSPECTIONS by the Obama Gestapo. That should be very interesting!!!

A package of toilet paper is more than a 3 day supply. Bottles of shampoo. A single bar of soap!! Laundry soap. A bottle of Windex. A roll of paper towels. A package of trash basket bags. Ziplock bags. A package of copy paper. The cartridges for my printer. The ribbon in my calculator!! The tractor feed paper for my other printer.

The Glock and Sig Sauer were hardly "high-power weapons". These were handguns. I guess if you have anything more lethal than a Red Ryder BB gun, it is considered "high-power" by the Fascist media and nanny government.

I’ve noticed the A.P. has a word-processor macro that adds the words “high” and “power” on all articles about firearms. There was a story they picked up from the Worcester telegram word-for-word EXCEPT for the words “high power” added before the word “rifle” in the original article.
No bias there, huh?
Well I would not go so far as that.
We elect people to represent us and to make decisions. Our elected representatives should not be afraid to make decisions because of the off chance that some odd bad thing may come of that decision.
The shooter is responsible for the dead people not a poorly conceived law. Yes that poor law made things much worse than they otherwise may have been. But hauling the congress in to court would only entangle congress in endless handwringing and make them fear to act. Not to mention no sane person would ever run for office again. Every law has unintended and unforeseeable consequences.
The consequences of the no guns on school grounds is easy for anyone not blinded by leftist ideology to see but that does not change the fact that legislators must be free of the fear of legal jeopardy for their votes made in good faith.
What bothers me most about this event is that these two brave people obviously had the courage and selfless concern for the children to act in the face of death to try and save the lives of the children in their care, but because of foolish laws that were supposedly intended to prevent a horrible crime such as this, these brave souls were prevented from ending this murderous act and uselessly sacrificed their lives.
Had these individuals had the right to carry the necessary tools to act against this loony their lives and the lives of many children would have been spared.

I believe the no firearms within 1000 feet of a school is federal law.
That being said; I don’t believe the law passes constitutional muster.
I think that law got thrown out by the Supreme Court. I know they tried to do something like that, but I think it was rejected.
and, even if it were a law, certainly that violation (by a now dead person) would be trumped in spades by the multiple state murder charges.
I suppose this guy MIGHT have broken some gun laws by taking his mother’s guns without her permission, but seriously, the gun laws are not at issue here. Nor is his mother’s behavior, although it seems clear she’ll be damned by the press and the public. Even though she was the first murder victim.
Although who knows, with the low info voters. Based on November’s results I suppose those folks think you could pass a law saying we can each have a banana split every day, and we’ll get one. Or someone will have to answer as to why not!
