How 'genius' honor student Adam Lanza became masked killer
Daily Mail ^ | 12/15/12

Posted on 12/15/2012 8:45:53 AM PST by BunnySlippers

Ms Conte called the ordeal 'sad' for Lanza and his family, and suggested that the violence is a portion of a much larger situation.

'Guns are easy to point to, but it's really a mental health issue.'

Then why did you tell the other poster he couldn't debate if it's irrelevant? Because you don't have facts.

You have emotion, and are willing to strip me of my rights in the hope that you can keep some of yours.

I find appeasers to be abhorrant. Take your appeasment elsewhere. It won't sell in a nation of free men.

I agree with you. At the very least, teachers and school administrators should be armed with Taser guns with a 15-foot range and laser sights so they at least have a chance at disabling an armed attacker. In fact, I’ve read that a high-powered Taser gun is actually more effective than a gun at disabling a person quickly. Teachers should be trained in how to use a Taser gun and then hand-cuff the attacker quickly while he’s disabled. Amazing as it sounds, however, Taser guns are actually illegal in many of the liberal states. The liberal mentality never ceases to amaze me.

‘Gun free zones’ are neon sign ‘defenseless victim’ zones. And that’s why I’m armed everywhere I go, including the bathroom.

I’ll fight my way. You fight yours.

But you won’t take my arms.

When people who play Mario Kart start tossing banana peels all over the roads, and kids who play Farmville start cutting down forests and cultivating land all over the place, then perhaps I’ll think video games play a role.

I think this lady was in deep denial. Kinda like people who own wild chimps or pitbulls. There’s reports in the British press folks knew he was really disturbed. I don’t doubt them. No one has rage li8ke this without showing some red flags.

I wouldn't be at all surprised.  You could easily be right.

I’m going to say something no one on this site wants to hear DO...this is a watershed moment for gun control. If someone wants a gun buy it now. The 2nd amendment is going to be amended.

I'm not convinced of it.  When these issues come up, Democrats have sometimes surprised me with their responses.  Note the federal assault weapons ban that was allowed to expire.

Here the guy didn't even use an 'assault weapon'.  When all is said and done, there's very little grounds to do anything here.  What are they going to do, banish all handguns and rifles?  Will they banish all semi-automatics?  Will they ban anything other than a single-shot weapon?

And what would they base any of this on, related to this situation?

How do you defend yourself against two or more armed men with a single-shot weapon?  Either we have a right to protect ourselves or we don't.

Democrats from hunting states are headed into a buzz saw here.

But you advocate forcing me to keep mine unloaded and locked up. That's a pretty leftist/fascist concept.

Not to mention that you can't make me, regardless of the laws you want passed.

Yep .... gun control is coming. 20 little kids at once is too much for the nation to handle. It won’t happen overnight but 20 years from now we will look back and see it was this moment where it started.

Mmm ... you’re not paying attention. You’re smart, you’re responsible. Let’s keep guns in the hands of smart responsible people.

[I just know you will not agree].

I’m not saying I’m for gun control or that it will work. But you know the left ...they are nothing if not patient. They will exploit this like the war on woman or global warming. Did you ever think it would come to the point where a Sandra Fluke could get the federal government to mandate the Church to buy condoms?

I was thinking out loud, which in my own case has nothing to do with, and is quite apart from my fearlessness. I like my idea better than the inaccessibility of gun locks and safes where no one can get to them. There are disadvantages enough to choose from in all cases.

Tasers should be in the array of weapons of school security personal, along with many others.

If people are looking for a way to “prevent this from ever happening again”, then it is time to fortify the Hell out of schools, as well as other fish in the barrel type soft targets sought out by these cowards.

If we refuse to defend our weakest targets, then we are going to be hit again. It is just a matter of time.

I want armed, armored men around the schools. Every school. I want those men supported by plain clothes security systems operators. I want hardened classrooms, with steel doors and locks. I want steel plates in walls. I want an emergency firearm in a box in the classroom accessible by the teacher via access code.

I want the schools to have greater defenses than banks or even jails.

If people want to address this problem in a serious way that will have visible results, then this is the way. Other typical solutions of taking freedoms of those who did nothing are simply power grabbing politicians, and I will not go along with that at all.

I’m tired of playing this game. The solution is to arm. Peace through strength. Idiots like Willie Nelson can kiss my ass. My guns are for self defense and the defense of those whom I love. At this point I have to view any attempt to take them or any talk of taking them as a direct threat.

I like the idea of not putting stupid laws in place to restrict the right that God gave us.

No safes, locks, or owner recognition codes.

No, I didn’t. I still believe that will be struck down upon appeal.

Do I think it’s something we should take seriously? Yes.

I still think folks see this call for more gun control to be contrived.

We shouldn’t ignore it though. We should do our best to counter the efforts.

In your post #20 on this thread: "That means locking them up or rendering them unusable. "

I am paying attention. And all your handwaving doesn't distract me from the fact that you advocate taking my rights to try to preserve some of yours.

“Is there something common about random mass killers? Something they share?”

YES, They all played violent video games. If the government is so set on banning something they should start with violent video games. There is absolutely no redeeming value to these games. They serve to desensitize people to death and killing and to teach them to shoot fast and accurate. The Columbine shooters, the Virginia Tech shooter, the Gifford shooter, the movie theater shooter, the mall shooter and yesterdays school shooter are all described as “gamers”.

He didn’t own guns Bunny... his mother did. He killed his mother and stole her guns to use in the crime. A perfect example of why gun control simply does not work and never will work.

I’ll put forth this thought. Maybe if we can’t trust a person with guns in society due to mental illness, maybe that person shouldn’t be out in society at all. If a person is such a danger to himself and others, maybe we need to institutionalize that person... for his safety and the safety of others.
