Dem. lawmaker: To get gun control, Obama must ‘exploit’ shooting

A veteran Democratic lawmaker believes the nation will go along with stronger gun control laws if President Obama “exploits” the Newtown, Conn., tragedy and nudges Congress to action.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents portions of New York City, said he was encouraged by Mr. Obama’s statement on Friday afternoon that the mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 young children, requires “meaningful action” by Congress, but hopes those words turn into concrete legislation.

We do not need the old failed policies of fascist gun "gun control". We need armed responsible adults capable of protecting the children, instead of keeping them in the a defenseless killing zone for their attackers.

Gun control is the cause of—not the solution to—these violent crimes. In every instance, the shooter chose an easily available venue where there was an existing publicized gun ban and concealed carry by patrons or employees was prohibited. How stupid, self-deluded, and suicidal are the American people and those they elect to public office?

Legislation is so old fashioned and messy. Who needs it? Certainly not Obama. He will just issue an Executive Order banning guns. Boehner will do nothing—he might even cry. And if it makes it to the Supreme Court, Justice Roberts will cave as Obama has found some lever to bend him to his will.

Its not that I don’t feel for the Victims, I do. Its that I am not about to give up my freedoms in response to every tragedy. Freedom is not free. Anytime you give people freedom, the nutcases will occasionally take advantage of it to cause mayhem. But giving up your freedom for “safety” has far worse consequences. How many people get killed each year in auto accidents? Funny, I don’t hear anyone proposing to ban cars.

There are a 1,000 pages of federal, state, and local laws that exist already over ‘gun control’. Adding another page, doesn’t really say much or do much.

Your mass shooters can be divided into two groups...either mentally unstable or significant drug users. The only connection between the two groups? All male. If you go back over twenty years....it’s almost impossible to find a female in the mass shooter category.

Fixing this? About every six months....I notice a major bridge failure that occurs. It’s been going on for decades. I haven’t noticed any effort to have ‘bridge failure control’ laws put into effect. That kind of says something.

Could it be that "they" need these killings.. we never had problems like these when guns -- including surplus WWII weapons were sold in magazine ads and IIRC comic book ads. I recall that DoD virtually gave away surplus ammo.

Was this and other massacres "arranged" in order to advance an agenda.

Maybe yes in the context that certain pharmaceuticals have effects on the mind that, there is strong evidence, cause these horrors.

Yet, and here's the "arranged" aspect, there appears to be a disregard and even a coverup of the connection -- it could be argued that some in the ruling class New Normal want the shootings to happen

Sounds like it’s time to once again remind our own particular reps that we will not accept ANY tampering with our rights “regardless of politics”. (that’s what hussein said yesterday) The constitutional violaters that are calling for more mostly live in that rarified world above the “little people”, or, dunces as they think of us. With armed protection and little in common with their constituents they apparently have no concern for the constitution. I think some sort of EO or presidential directive will be tried as a place holder. Consider the other EO’s and PD’s that have been issued that are most likely un-constitutional and nobody seems to give a hoot. Just what we need more, gun-free zones where the bad guys will have ducks in a gallery. Possibly a voluntary “trusted teacher” program? Couple of weeks at FrontSight and then strap on and get back in the classroom. Wonder how the teachers unions would react to that. Probably too much liability involved.

Do you remember Laurie Dan? That happened in the late 80s, but that’s the only case of a female shooter that I can think of. She was mentally disturbed.
