DFL Rep. Keith Ellison appeared on TPT's Almanac tonight to discuss the shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut. During the interview, Ellison argued for greater gun control measures.
"The NRA (National Rifle Association) is strong and many of them (members of Congress) take the position that any gun position is going to lead to the position of taking away of all guns," Ellison said. "This is not rational. We need sane, sensible gun regulation and we need it now."
Ellison says his top initiatives would be to address high capacity clips that hold multiple rounds of bullets and greater background checks that require people to submit to background checks before purchasing weapons at gun shows.
"Those are things that we can do now that won't interfere with the right to own a gun but hopefully will avoid and keep guns out of the hands out of the people who are violently unstable," Ellison said.
Ellison also says there needs to be greater access to mental health treatment. He said that would help identify early signs of mental instability which he says lead some to take violent acts.
Ellison has been the most vocal of Minnesota's Congressional delegation to today's shooting. Many others suggested that today was not the day to discuss whether stricter gun control measures are needed.
The muzzies would love nothing better than an unarmed America. I can see where this clown is coming from.
We need to take this as a serious threat to our liberties and fight this. Just waiting until 2014 won’t work.
Did Ellison make the same plea after Nidal Hasan’s rampage at Ft. Hood?

yeah of course he would call for more gun laws, so him and his buddy can push sharia law on all of us once we are disarmed. Crazy? Perhaps.. but I would not put it past his type.

This would be the same Keith Ellison whose Muslim Friends out here operate a couple of questionable Mosques and the “children” of a Mosque leader was out with a large group and an AK 47, shooting up the desert in North Phoenix, right next to a road. Wonder what the Iman’s kids and friends (teens and young adults) doing with an AK47?
We have gun regulations coming out the wazzoo already. But ya know, someone bent on murder and suicide probably isn't going to give a big fat whoop if he/she is breaking 5 laws or 50 laws. All those laws are going to do is inhibit law abiding citizens from being in a position and equipped to deal with a situation in an immediate and conclusive manner.
So yeah, additional gun control laws and regulations have zero effect on the evil and insane. Their only real purpose is in fact to take firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless. Which is how we end up with things like we have today.
Thank you liberal gun-grabbers and hand wringers for ensuring that no responsible, law-abiding citizen was armed and prepared to stop that incident. Those deaths are in no small part on you. Sleep well.

And let’s hear about Hollywood movie violence and T violence also contribute to the desensitization of the young to violence. Violence on TV and in the movies is the ‘mother’s milk’ of our young people. Will we hear the MSM and movie types calling for a ban on all violence in the movies? Not while we have idiots like Bloomberg calling for gun control.
And how much do you want to bet this this kids parents’ divorce also contributed to his instability?
Ellison should avail himself of the mental health resources.
Curious how these shootings seem to have gone up since the Kenyan took office and how immediately after this latest shooting we have politicos like Mike Bloomberg the Despot, right away demanding a nationwide ban on guns. No press conference about the victims, no press conference about the mental patients waltzing around, but about banning guns. Yes ban guns, because we want our wackos killing with gasoline and fire instead of guns. 87 people killed in the Happyland disco fire started by one man and a can of gasoline. EIGHTY-SEVEN yet I can still buy as much gas as I want to in a can.
