There wasn’t any mention of god in the classroom when I started school 70 years ago!

Well, there was for me when I started some 62 years ago, and it lasted all the way through to my baccalaureate service. This was in “godless” coastal California. Will wonders never cease?

I started in 1948 in a Public School. We had a flag raising every morning. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer. Our Christmas plays had the baby Jesus in a manger etc etc.

Our pioneers held Town Meetings in the churches. It was there or the saloon.

I have made that point before Dale. I started public school in 1951 and graduated in 1963, in conservative southern Missouri and the only time I heard a prayer was at high school graduation, one prayer in 12 years.

It was not that school was hostile toward religion, I never heard anything negative about it. Parents that wanted their kids to learn about God took them to church.
