Twelve facts about guns and mass shootings in the United States (here we go again)

Klein is vying to retain his "World's Dumbest" blogger title. From Doug Ross Journal: I've got a better analogy: if increasingly easy access to welfare and food stamps offer incentives to rear children out of wedlock... and if those kids born out of wedlock are proven to commit violent crime at far higher rates than kids raised in two-parent familes... and if the correlation of welfare to violent crime had been proven in roughly two dozen studies... and if said correlation affected millions of kids... would Democrats finally abandon their failed "Great Society" policies that have literally turned inner cities into violent, crime-ridden wastelands? An Aurora massacre occurs every 10 days in Chicago, the city with the strictest handgun restrictions in the U.S., located in the state with the strictest firearm restrictions in the country. Like Washington DC, New York City, Mexico City and even London -- to name but a few -- "gun-free" cities are truly areas where the innocent are targeted by predators who have no intention of abiding by any law. The masterminds who think they can banish evil from the world by banning guns must reject all of human history, as well as logic and reason, to promote their unconstitutional schemes. Which is why Ezra Klein will almost certainly retain the title of the World's Dumbest Blogger next year. http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/12/worlds-dumbest-blogger-my-facts-about.html Full article link:

"Blame the ACLU for letting all the loonies out in the 70’s."

BULLSEYE! Blame the ACLU lawyers and liberal politicians for the psychiatric hospital deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill that has taken place since 1972.

No, this is not the bullseye, and you are not even on target. Let me explain why. Back in the 70s thereabout when Prozac was offered, and subsequently other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) were invented, one after another, the makers put out a lot of money to get greedy psychatrists to publish phony trials and wonder stories about how these drugs eradicated mental disorders, and called them"psychotropics" allowing the release of people who were institutionalized.

Billions of dollars have enriched the makers and their M. D. puppets. Any ACLU connection is merely incidental.

That's my opinion. Here's some facts:

Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome--often abbreviated to benzo withdrawal—is the cluster of symptoms which appear when a person who has taken benzodiazepines long term and has developed benzodiazepine dependence stops taking benzodiazepine drug(s) or during dosage reductions. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is similar to alcohol withdrawal syndrome and barbiturate withdrawal syndrome and can in severe cases provoke life threatening withdrawal symptoms such as seizures. Severe and life threatening symptoms are mostly limited to abrupt or over-rapid dosage reduction from high doses. A protracted withdrawal syndrome may develop in a proportion of individuals with symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, insomnia and sensory disturbances. In a small number of people it can be severe and resemble serious psychiatric and medical conditions such as schizophrenia, mania and seizure disorders. A serious side effect of benzodiazepine withdrawal is suicide.

It will be interesting to see if psychotropic drugs are in the picture.

>>Unless laws are radically different where you live, a teacher cannot prescribe a child any medication.

The practical reality is that kids get referred to psychologists all the time by schools. And the psychologists generally have associated docs who will prescribe for them.

The schools will quit referring to psychologists who don’t recommend meds. That’s how the game gets played.

Did you know schools often get more Federal money for enrolled kids with on meds with an ADD diagnosis?

Bingo! I came to the same conclusion. Hopefully, Rush, et al, picks up on this.

I disagree with your characterization of violent games as "physical objects".

Such games are "emotional or behavioral objects" -- like violent cRAP music -- and both bear a considerable degree of blame for the increase in violent behavior --such as misuse of inanimate physical objects (including guns and drugs).

Both should be subject to very strict PARENTAL control.

I'm good with that. What I'm not good with is GOVERNMENTAL control.

Common questions:
What meds were they on and off?
What video games did they play?
What was their parents’ marital status?

“My point is...teachers can “SAY” any dumb thing they want. They can DO nothing to make it happen. Only a doctor can.”

In most school districts they can not even suggest medication. They can suggest that a child be evaluated by a professional for behavior problems. If they do otherwise it comes awfully close to practicing medicine without a license.

My cousin had the best care money could buy. My Aunt & Uncle spent a fortune trying to get him “well”. It's the doctors & the legal aspects of this.

We know so little about the brain & it's workings. The doctors gave him a pill which sometimes did or didn't work. The legal system kept him on the streets.

The cost is tremendous. I can see how public funds are needed in a case of catastrophic illness, but Obama Care is not it. All they want to do is control the populous through health care. They don't give a rats ass about our health. It's all about control of the people.
