Jon Hammar, a former Marine who served in Afghanistan and Afghanistan, is being held in a notorious Mexican prison where Zetas gang members hold power. His crime? Declaring an antique shotgun to Mexican officials after registering the gun with U.S. Customs Agents on his way to Costa Rice. Hammar has been in a prison in Mexico for months now and this week, his parents got an extortion call demanding they wire thousands of dollars to the prison. Hammar spoke to his parents on the phone, saying he thought he was going to be killed. Hammar has been tortured during his time in the prison. He’s been beaten and chained to a bed. Mexican officials have justified Hammar’s arrest, saying it came in accordance with gun laws in the country, have no plans to release him and the State Department has done nothing to get Hammar released. He could face as many as 15 years in prison.
Hammer was told as long as he declared his shot gun to Mexican customs authorities that carrying the gun to Costa Rice was legal. Apparently that wasn’t the case however considering Mexican authorities, including Mexican President Felipe Calderon, encourage their citizens to break U.S. law on a daily basis with illegal immigration and rock throwing at U.S. Border Patrol Agents, Hammer should be released immediately.

Our State Dept should be in contact w Mexico to make sure this ex-Marine is released. And the GOP, instead of Rubio-types pandering to Mexican illegals with DREAMs of Amnesty....needs to put the Obama Admin butts on the coals and get moving on this
Meanwhile, the Mexican government demands that the United States Congress pass amnesty legislation. It is not as though we don’t have any bargaining chips to get our guy back.
This is like a Kulak expecting a rescue from Stalin.

How ironic that Jon Hammar is in jail for bringing an antique rifle across the border when OBAMA AND HOLDER, who sent hundreds of AKs and other modern weapons during Fast and Furious are STILL AT LARGE!!!!
Get caught with a gun in Mexico and you will go to prison and do a lot of time!!!!

The real tragedy of this case is that if Hammar is convicted in Mexico, once released from that Hellhole, he’ll be unable to ever own a firearm in the US. He didn’t break any laws here, but if you’re convicted of such outside of our country, you’re screwed. This went up to at least the 5th Circuit a few years back - a guy went to Mexico and had a single EMPTY CARTRIDGE CASE in his trunk, was convicted down there (you can’t own any military calibers without a special permit) and wasn’t allowed to own guns after that, despite it not being a crime here.
Hillary is too busy shoveling up litter in the State Department sand box to be bothered with American heroes.
You couldn’t pay me to go to Mexico; you couldn’t pay me to go to Washington, D.C., either.
People need to understand that when they are in Mexico that they must follow the laws of Mexico.
Otherwise, you will end up in a Mexican jail.

The Silver Star Families of America, who has a mission to assist our wounded, (And Lance Corporal Hammar IS wounded with PTS), has finally gotten into contact with someone who will answer their phones.
We sent our first care package off to him today and are working our butts off to get him out.
