I suspect this young man has a severe mental illness. The mental health gurus decided about 20 years ago that institutionalizing sufferers of mental illness is not a solution.

Young men,in this age group, suffer most. They don’t like the meds because the meds result in a numbness that is uncomfortable. So they don’t take them. What they think is real to them and they act on it.

Wish someone would study the correlation between these mass murders and mental health treatment.

It isn’t firearms. It is untreated mental health problems.

If you can be in an institution for weeks for a broken hip, why doesn’t it stand to reason that institutionalization for severe mental health problem an option?

To call this a mental illness is to denigrate people who actually have mental illnesses. This person did not have a mental illness. This person was evil.

We need to recognize that there are evil people in this world, and this person was one of them.

All of the psychological and psychiatric mumbo-jumbo in the world could not have prevented this incident. This person had a black heart and complete absence of any human soul.

May he burn in Hell forever.

"I suspect this young man has a severe mental illness."

If there is a hole through his "mental" I would agree with you.

It is the cost of Caring for mental illness was the problem, and the fact that no real or meaningful treatment or restorative aspect in ‘curing’ the illness. Then it became a libtard political correctness issue. You can’t make people take their meds. You can’t arrest restrain unless they are an immediate harm to others. The became the homeless problem that we try to fix by teaching them how to eat out of garbage cans and giving them needles in a needle exchange program.

To avoid discussion on the real issues, this will be a gun problem.

I’ve come across folks who grew up in the 1940s and 1950s....where it took a simple petition from five people...going to a county judge, to invoke an examination, and immediate removal to a state institution. The minute you had a small group agreed on an individual being a threat to themselves or to anyone...a judge would react. This all disappeared in the 1970s as everyone felt that state mental institutes were the wrong place to send mentally ill people. They ought to be medicated and sent home.

My own personal opinion is that the med game works barely half the time, and on any given day....there are 250k people walking around the US who would kill you or your family members if you said the wrong thing to them. Some are permanently messed up....some are on PCP/meth...some are simply deranged. If five people signed a petition...some judge ought to invoke a safety rule to push the individual into seven days of mandatory review. If the judge can’t be sure after that review...you get 60 days of mandatory attention at a facility.

Taking away rights? Yeah...if you can’t control yourself...you lose rights (at least in my book).

All of these shooters are on Ritalin or other psychotropic drugs. All of them.

Ban Ritalin.

All killers are not necessarily mentally ill.

Many are evil...pure and simple.

For example, many attribute other motives to terrorists besides evil. Ex: poverty, disenfranchisement, or in many people's mind like yours mental illness.

But much murder simply comes from evil desires.

The humanitarian liberals decided that these teens and adults can live functionable lives within society, released them upon us (really because it costs to much to house them) and gave them the responsibility to medicate themselves, brilliant!
